😅🌅Ninja Monkey, thanks for scam warning. They seem to be increasing although Japan is relatively safe. Your live was a very early live stream post! Sorry to miss the live! Interesting chat.
ww! … most of the crime in Japan is committed by the LDP so don't worry! (^_^) … the mafia will leave foreign tourists alone (mostly) … anyway, I would probably stay away from places with lots of tourists …
Hey, nice video. Yeah, I'm kind of afraid to go to an Izakaya here. I've been ripped off in some way every time I've gone to one. Sometimes just 5 bucks or something small, but I don't like it.
I think one tip would be that if you want a nice meal, eat at a hotel restaurant. They're not going to rip you off, and there are some really good ones that aren't too expensive.
Another piece of advice, and forgive me, I don't remember if I've mentioned this before: If you're the type to push the last train, when you arrive (before you start drinking, and during the day time), find a Kaikatsu Club and sign up. It's an internet cafe chain, and they have a lot of locations. When I heard about 'internet cafes', I thought, oh, cafe. 24 hours, you just go there then, right? No. You need a membership to use it/to get in, but it doesn't cost anything. Or, wait, maybe it was $3. As a resident, they just wanted my address. As a tourist, you'll need your passport, but here's why you do it early – they have human staff during the day, there's a good chance the automated system won't work smoothly (based on my experience), and the human staff will help you out. The registration system has issues – they had to make a physical voice phone call in my situation, which is not unusual. Many locations do not have human staff at night. Aka when you'll be stuck there, or intentionally there after last train. When you register, you get a card, and it's easy to use. Basically, you get the card, and you're golden. No hotel? Eh, not great, but free soft serve and a quiet place to rest. Kaikatsu isn't the only one, but it's the one I know. And, I know it's very convenient, if you have the card. If you don't have the card, and you arrive at 2am, it's very frustrating/daunting/intimidating. You might not be able to go in, and there might not be any humans to help you. That's how I screwed up in Ueno once… and wandered the streets until 4am, and that's how I know that the train station opens up around 4am, and the first train is around 5am. Some of the details are fuzzy though, as it was a long night.
