Been meaning to contact you to thsmk you for inspiring me you git me out of the house in twenty years last year to Europe by rail then lockdown hit . Still been going strong . Thank you will be sending a donation to site
Unique video ! I feel happier… Nostalgia knocked on my door … I'm deeply moved ! Faultlessly ideal job ! My deep respect dear Friend !
THANK YOU! Wonderful clear filming – almost thought I was there.
Germany is beautiful !!!
I went there in July this year and it's definitely worth the trip! I didn't remember a page on the seat61 website about the harz schmalspurbahn, but I see there's one now! Keep up the great work! You (your website) helped me for train travel in China, Vietnam and with my interrail around Europe! I love your website!
Mark,
great to see that you are producing videos again. I was all set for a big trip via Milan, Tirano, Chur, Koblenz and London in May 2020, all booked with guidance from your very useful website, when covid struck. Still no idea when I will be allowed out of Australia, in the meantime, please keep the videos coming, they give us all something to look forward to.
7:30 – It is a shame to see how the climate change has destroyed lots of the forests. Some leaders of countries still claim that a climate change does not exist. Most of them also have claimed that a virus does not exist, leading to the highest death rates in their countries (Brazil, UK, US). I hope that common sense once will get back to rule over fake news and misinformation of despots.
What a beautiful little trip! Thank for taking us along 🇧🇪🇨🇦
AAhhh the good old days…what a beautiful train ! Obviously popular with train spotters and railway enthusiasts !!
This is beyond amazing! Thank you for such amazing videos ❤️
Excellent video
Greetings from indonesia
Those were some lovely views! Also neat to see the center buffers and zig-zag sleepers.
Awesome video, thank you for the details, great ride on a beauty of the past.
Wonderful video……brings back memories of my visit to the Brocken in 1994. Shame I wasn't making videos then. many thanks for making and posting all of your excellent videos!
So – how do we get TO Nordhausen?
I like this old technik – good film 🎥 📺 🎬
Most HSB steamlocomotives are not as old as you would think. Most of them are built in the fifties.
Wow, the view and the sound of steam engine.
Note the dead trees (at 6:40 and 7:30). These are not only the consequences of climate change, but much more the consequences of the great environmental policy. Decades of knowledge and experience of fighting the bark beetle were not longer considered to be ecological. Now we see the result – many square kilometers of dead trees.
Very nice indeed. Thanks for sharing this beautiful train.😘

Upea video, huimat maisemat ja viimeisen päälle kalusto.
I went there in 2003, so it's high time I went there again – especially as the video that I took was in the days of VHS so I need to get some decent footage!
It brought back some fantastic memories of the Brocken in the ice, snow and a raging gale. It was a very hostile environment but magnificent.

a few more train services you should check out:
1) the "Molli" Mecklenburgische Bäderbahn narrow gauge steam powered railway at the Baltic Sea coastline, where the steam train partially runs through a street in the county town just like a tram does
2) ALEX international express train from Munich Central to Prague Central
3) Nordland Line from Trondheim to Bodø in Norway
