ABOUT US

Weโ€™re the Lockwoods. And weโ€™re traveling the world to experienceโ€”up close and in personโ€”all the natural wonders and distinct cultures that our kids would otherwise be consuming only through textbooks and TV. We think itโ€™s a better way to learn and weโ€™re working hard to fund this little experiment in the hope that our kids will grow up wiser, kinder, and more grateful for the beauty of our diverse planet and its people.

  4. Sorry I have to correct you about where the name El nido originated. Yes, it means "The Nest" but not referring to turtle nest. Instead, it is referring to the "Balinsasayaw" bird's nest which can be found on the cliffs of the limestone mountains surrounding El nido. The nests are harvested and turned into soup (Nido soup) which is a local delicacy. I'm not sure if harvesting the nest is still allowed because the Balinsasayaw birds are considered endangered.

  17. 4 years ago, I had the chance to do that zip line. I didn't since my family askee ke not to due to my age lol. That zip line goes above our accommodations roof in El Nido at Vanilla Beach if I remember. At the time all I can do was watch amazingly people going over my head over the water and into the island.
