Woven into the cultural fabric of the area, the ancient giants are still at the center of many local mystical belief systems and superstitions. Although the recent eruption of Mount Agung forced 70,000 Balinese from their homes, scientists estimate the volcano will enrich their lands with some of the most fertile soil on the planet.
Explore the unique relationship between the Indonesian people and their volcano neighbors in this experimental short from Justin Pelletier and Adam Maruniak at Brick Productions.

VOLCANOES – one of the most powerful forces on earth !
The 1816 Mt. Tambora Volcano caused snowfall even at southern Indian town of Chennai – and it was the year without summer !!
Trivia : snowfall in Chennai before 1816, probably happened only about 10 million years ago, when India was attached to Antarctica.
this is shot like a music video. some what irrelevant to the subject

As a Western woman, I never understood the religjous awe these poplulations feel toward their volcanoes. Then someday I climbed one and heard it breathe and groan. And from the depth of my reptilian brain I understood everything.
