People say Nagoya’s a boring city – but is that true? There’s actually lots to do there – the video includes well-know, famous places as well as less well known, hidden gems! It’s very quick and easy to get to Nagoya on the bullet train – it’s on the main shinkansen line between Tokyo and Kyoto/Osaka, so it’s a convenient location to add to your Japan trip. There’s lots to do in the city, and it’s also a good stopover before heading to Gifu, Takayama or the Japanese alps.

Always cool when J-Tubers branch out and cover things beyond the typical! Thanks for these ideas!
i just spent 6 days in nagoya and i agree — nagoya is NOT boring. there are loads of things to do there! but i wish i saw this video first, cuz i missed a bunch of options that i could have added to the list! next time, as i only visited 1/3 of ghibli park, so i'll be back.
I love it when you find these little gems, Amy. I'm definitely going to visit the Studio Ghibli park. I didn't realise that what is called a 'boring place' could be so good. Thank you for another great video ❤🫶
Thanks for the video, Nagoya was definitely included in my next Japan trip. I honestly prefer places that go unter the radar or are considered "boring" to tourists, I think there you can enjoy Japan the best and most authentic way.
Hi Amy! I love your work <3 I don't think there's a "boring" place anywhere, maybe if someone is only looking for super touristy parts like Tokyo, but I believe there's always something new to learn or a beautiful landscape to appreciate, and that's why I love what you do, I wish you could travel around the world because you have the power to make even the most "boring" place shine like a diamond <3 excuse my bad english, and hugs from Argentina <3
I was wondering if I may not be able to visit the onsens in Nagoya as I have a couple of tattoos on both my arms…?
The two Toyota museums, Toyota Automobile Museum in Nagakute (subway trains to the Linimo line), and the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology (Sako station on Meitetsu Line, a couple stops from Nagoya station). Seeing some of Toyota's history from loom maker to car builder between the two places.
On my two week Japan trip next year, I'm really excited for my couple days around Nagoya. One day is for Nagashima Spa Land park and onsen. The other is for Inuyama just north of the city where they have one of the few remaining historic castles high atop a hill and a huge open air architectural museum with a Frank Lloyd Wright building.
I'm Japanese so I'm familiar with the Co Co Curry shops, but I didn't know that it originated in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya until I watched this video. As always, thank you for your accurate introduction to Japanese things.
Compared to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, Nagoya is less well known.
But I don't think the charm of Nagoya is small at all.
Nagoya gourmet is called "Nagoya-Meshi". And, Cafe culture has taken root in Nagoya, so visiting the cafes is fun.
I think the only positive thing to come out of the JR pass price increase is that more tourists might visit these types of cities, when normally they would just zoom past them on the shinkansen to Kyoto.
This video came just in time. Going on my first trip to japan in 2 weeks and also visiting nagoya (mainly for the ghibly park) and staying for 2 nights. Really looking forward to exploring nagoya and those really cool recommendations. Watched tons of other nagoya videos as well but there are a lot of cool things you mentioned that I did not here of in any other video. Thanks 😊
That Night-time Factory Boat-Tour would be right up my street. It would also be interesting in Tokyo and Osaka, with all their man-made islands.
I can't wait to start planning my next trip (still recovering from my first one) and these are some great suggestions. Site of Reversible Destiny sounds very interesting. I also thought Nagoya was a sleepy area, this is fun.
Hi Amy. Love your videos! We're off to Japan for 5 weeks in a few days for our 10th trip but will definitely be trying out a few things in this video in fact, quite a few ideas for our trip have come from you like Mt Takao and Minoo Park, both places we hadn't heard of but found out about from your videos. Thank you so much 😊
Great video, exactly the kind of information I've been looking for. I made my first Japan trip earlier this year and Nagoya was one of the places I skipped due to its "boring" reputation, but now I've started planning for the future and hope to add Nagoya to future travel plans!
Man I've already made my itinerary for Nagoya, Just planed to stay 2 nights but now i wish i could have at least an extra day, Good video though! Glad you included the coco museum.
I love to think how this channel is still active for over 6 years. Thanks Amy for some interesting content over the years!
Amy, you didn't mention the Sriracha vending machines in Nagoya!
Thank you 😍 I’m going in December for Ghibli and didn’t know what to do in the city 😂 thank you for the information so helpful 🤍
I absolutely love your videos. They are so informative.
