This vlog is literally so hectic and it was literally a reflection of what this trip felt like — it was exhilaratingly and exhaustingly fun and it felt like I lived an entire year in just two weeks.
If you’re heading there soon and interested in the suburban vibe, here are some of the places that I listed with a carrot icon in my video:
–Super Super, 一粥麵
If you’re looking for something super local this is for you. I used to get a cheap lunch here every so often and it’s always full no matter which location you go to…
–Showa Camera (Causeway Bay)
There are a few branches of this store but this one is the only one I know how to get to. It’s a bit hard to find as it’s inside a residential building but very cool inside. Staff is super knowledgeable and friendly and develops high quality pics
–Nha trang
This is such an OG spot for me bc I lived right across the street. They stayed open during COVID and I remember picking up so many orders here. You can’t go wrong with any of the food here
–Hang Hau Man Luk Park, 坑口文曲里公園
Super cool garden connected to housing estate and huge mall under Hang Hau Station. Also where the minibuses are to go to HKUST.
–Monster Building (Yik Cheong Estate)
Pretty cool to see but kind of weird seeing people do full photoshoots here tbh. There’s a pretty cool arabica coffee location in this building complex too.
–Genki Sushi
You won’t understand why people go crazy for Genki until you try it. On weekends, it feels like your entire neighborhood is lined up for Genki but it’s still worth lining up.
–Tseung Kwan O Waterfront Park
My favorite place ever. I used to run here every single day, sometimes more than once a day. They recently opened a new biking loop across the bridge and I highly recommend using the Locobike app and cruising along.
— HKUST
My alma mater. Not much to see unless you go to the school and veryyyy far from the city. The views of the ocean are amazing here and it was surreal to study here.
— Hong Kong Design Institute
My first time here on this trip actually. So many talented artists go here and I’ve seen some of the fashion capsules featured in K11 mall before. Worth checking out if you’re in the area.
— NOC Coffee
One of 4005910953 of my favorite cafes in Hong Kong. I come here for the avocado toast and pour overs. Can’t go wrong with the pastas or the pastries here either.
— Nan Lian Gardens
Serene block of the city next to Plaza Hollywood. I took visitors here a ton of times and even tried the vegetarian restaurant here once.
— Plaza Hollywood
We just came to avoid the downpour but the Hollywood Arcade inside the mall was surprisingly fun. Surprised at the sheer amount of people inside but couldn’t blame them.
— Tsaiyou 大奖
My favorite hot pot place hands down. The experience is so nice–you get all you can eat meat and self serve veggies, noodles, drinks, and desserts. What more can you want.
