  1. 2:10 I read somewhere that Uruguay is one of roundest countries in the world.

Also in Uruguay we normally say that our country heart shaped.

  2. 6:23 There are over 12 million cows in Uruguay which makes us the country with the biggest amount of cows per capita in the World being 3,5 cows per person.

In Fray Bentos, Rio Negro department, there is a former meatpacking company called Anglo that exported to the Allies during WWII and it has been selected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its role in feeding the troops in Europe.

  3. 6:30 Artigas is a department in Uruguay named after our national heroe José Gervasio Artigas. Around 9000km2 of Artigas (90% of the department) have Agatha and Amethyst stones. Every year around 20.000 tonnes of this preciuos stones are mined.

  4. 9:44 The picture with the Palm trees is in fact an ecosystem of 700 km2 of palm trees unique in the world.

  5. Great video!!! Greetings from Montevideo, just a few blocks away from your first street view drop hehe

  6. The signs you saw in the roads often are located in bridges, to know which river are you crossing. Btw "Ao" is "Arroyo" it's like a smaller river.

  7. Great video, we call the Rio de la plata river so half is ours and half belongs to Argentina. If we say is an estuary the navigation would be free for all. We prefer it this way.

  8. Thank you for the video! Come visit us.
Dolphins are not that common unfortunately.
27 hours flight from Uruguay to South Korea haha I had a hard time…

  9. Nice video, this is the stuff which I was waiting for, I was even thinking of doing this by my own.
One question which always intrigues me, why do we have so many congested stress boundaries over iran, pakistan and Afghanistan, is it something to do with indo eurasian plates subduction zone??

  10. 6:54 I agree with you. I also like to "travel" using Street View and I can see a lot of similarities between landscapes in Uruguay and some other countries like the Netherlands, Russia, Ukraine, Baltic countries, the prairies in the US and Canada (they're all also temperate flat grasslands), etc. But, unlike some European countries, Uruguay has a very low population density in a very flat land (in this topic is more similar to countries like Finland than the Netherlands). You can travel tens of square kilometres and see no people (and lot of cattle). That´s the reason there are lot of secondary roads used only by few people, unpaved and/or without any maintenance, because it would be useless and expensive. Uruguay is a great place for birders. There are no dolphins in Uruguay (so cold water), but there are lots of sea lions along the sea coast. In the countryside, you can visit peaceful river and lake beaches, farms, vineyards, etc. Greetings from Uruguay.

  11. Wow this video mas beautiful, I really enjoyed watching it and seeing your opinions as a Norwegian on our country. I am Uruguayan but a part of my family is orginally from Norway and I am currently learning Norwegian. I actually visited Norway and fell in love with it too. Big hug from Montevideo 🙂
