🚶‍♂️”Enlightened Conversations: An Interview with a Zen Buddhist Monk”

Embark on a profound journey with me, Kurt Bell, as we step into the tranquil environs of a Zen Buddhist temple nestled in Shizuoka City, Japan. What unfolds is a heartwarming, in-depth conversation with a Japanese Zen Buddhist monk, whose eloquence in the English language makes this encounter all the more enriching.

Through his words, delve into the ethos of Zen Buddhism, its practices, and its overarching mission of spreading compassion and understanding across the globe. This dedicated monk shares personal anecdotes, insights into his outreach endeavors, and his vision of bridging cultures and souls, one heart at a time.

Such profound interactions highlight the universality of spiritual quests and the shared aspirations of humanity. Born in America in 1964, my explorations in Japan constantly bring forth such enriching experiences that celebrate the confluence of philosophy, culture, and spirituality. Let’s immerse ourselves in this conversation and find resonance in the teachings and wisdom of Zen Buddhism. 🌄📚🚶‍♂️

  1. man this priest seems incredibly happy and free spirited.  he reminds me a lot of the dalai lama

  2. Zen Buddhism is amazing as well as Tibetan Buddhism. I would spend hours listening to Zen and Tibetan Buddhist chanting while I studied.

  3. Japanese Buddhist monks are not true Buddhist monks. They eat meat, marry, have children, drink and some even gamble…..

These all completely go against core Buddhist beliefs that real monks must abide to.

  4. This video has made my day! I've watched a lot of your Japanese videos where you walk, explore & share the mountains & trails & villages & people. But this video brings back my first memories of why I, for some unknown reason, became fascinated with Japanese ways. I heard the word 'Zen' when I was 14 or so & immediatly was hooked with a desire to 'understand'…. And now I'm 57. I've almost given up trying to 'describe the taste of an orange'….:-))

  5. Very endearing! It is the first of your videos I have watched, your Japanese is very good! As was the monks English!
How long have you been living in Japan?

  6. Someone asked me if I know what the 2 extra zeroes represent when you exchange 100 Japanese yen with 1 USD? Proportion of human capital valued at less than zero (by secret global bank standards) than can be counted up nation wide, with those statistics used to exchange for technology. Making it worthwhile to farm for social deviants (such by certain standards anyway), that can be securitized and then used as collateral to extend credit lines and technology transfer pacts into the future. That both positive growth and negative growth aspects of society will find themselves paying for, one way or another. Nothing wrong with technology, it's merely an extension of being human, humans are the problem aren't they? If any of this is true that is.

  7. Hi can I ask you where this temple is and where I can meet him please? A friend of mine from Brazil will come to Japan and me and him decided to experience a zen meditation together because it has been his dream so I was looking for a decent place to do so. I feel like I found one!

  8. The internet is a wonderful thing. A spontaneous conversation with a Buddhist monk is simply unavailable with any other media.

  9. oh wow, he's saying he's soto sect of zen buddhism, dogen zenji, roshi suzuki…..thats why his english is so good also…soto has a lot of western out reach. so over whelming for me, i am a westerner who follows dogen and soto style zen. what a random awesome video to find.
