Welcome back to Christchurch! In this vlog we can show off a bit of what makes Christchurch so cool — the eateries, restaurants, markets, cafes, bars and walking streets.

The Riverside Markets is one of the go to hubs in town, there’s a huge selection of places to eat, drink and shop along with a few more specific restaurants as well. There’s a collection of tables to sit and eat at after, so everyone can grab food from anywhere together.

Miro cafe was our breakfast spot and although we only tried one thing (the nicest of the day possibly!) the rest of the menu sounded great. As far as Christchurch cafes go, this was easily the most highly recommended.

Little High Eatery is another cool spot with some great restaurants and grab and go food as well. It’s worth noting our friends ate ramen at the same spot, but picked a different one on the menu, and they loved it. So maybe I got unlucky, maybe they ran out of the right noodles, maybe that one’s always a bit crap, but what evs. Great spot and the dumplings were fire!

Last up was the Pink Lady Rooftop Bar on top of the Muse Art Hotel. This was apparently the cool new kid on the block in Christchurch and it lived up to the hype (not always the case). Great cocktails, food and epic views as well.

And that was some of the best restaurants, cafes, bars and eateries in Christchurch — a city we really like and is totally worth checking out for any New Zealand travels.

Season 2 of Reveal NZ is a 20+ part video series showcasing the best things to do, see and experience in the Upper South Island. We’re visiting Nelson, Tasman, Marlborough, Kaikoura, Hanmer Springs, Christchurch and more! We’ll be going full vanlife for a portion of the trip in a top of the line motorhome as well, walking some of New Zealand’s best tracks and checking out some incredible accommodation as well.

More than just the upper South Island, New Zealand is an incredibly beautiful country with so much to offer — but it’s a lot larger than what you’d expect! We’re Dane & Stacey — a couple of nomadic travellers from little New Zealand, doing big things. In early 2017 we booked a one-way ticket to Thailand and traveled for 3 years non-stop… but travel has changed for everyone since late 2019 obviously.

Now we spend most of our time in New Zealand, experiencing our own country through the eyes of a tourist and sharing that all here, with you.

And for what it’s worth, it’s pronounced Dane-Ger, aka Danger… not Dan-E-Ger 😱

  1. Raman ria at the riverside market has really yummy Raman should definitely try this place

  2. Thank you for this. I'm a Christchurch local but have found it too heartbreaking to go into town since the quakes and have only been in if l absolutely have to. Will definitely try again, there's nothing like the promise of good food for encouragement.

  3. When I was in Christchurch last it was during the start of the Covid lockdown and I couldn’t travel for my final 3 days of my time in New Zealand, I missed so much looking at what you’ve been doing in the city

  4. This doesn’t even touch on the countless fab food venues and dining options in Christchurch – the four venues I Miro, Riverside Market, Little High (which are both excellent and offer multiple affordable fast food options, beverage and fresh produce outlets under the one roof plus some table service options upstairs in Riverside Market) and roof top bar are all worth a visit but there is so much more on offer. Some favs are Burger Burger, Bottle & Stone, The Old Vicarage Restaurant, Raspberry Cafe, C1 Expresso, Bohemian Bakery, Original Sin, Dux Dine, Strange & Co, Moment, The Athens Yacht Club, Thai Po Thong, Raw Sugar, Rangoon Ruby, Bunsen Cafe, The Lotus Heart, Rollicking Dessert Cafe, King of Snake, Dux Central, Strawberry Fare, The Cup, The Monday Room and sundry pubs to name but a few. Need more than a couple of days to check out diverse food and drink options in NZ’s BEST CITY 😍

  5. I'm glad you took us on a short walk around the "parts not yet back and running" – a pal said recently that the city even after all this time, is still struggling. This was when I was talking about the loss of retailers in Auckland from the Pandemic/economic downturn – but from your point of view eateries up and coming. We seem to be a nation of "eating out people" – not that I do that much, but the younger generation

  6. Hey guys first time watching u guys i am a chef and also live in Christchurch. new Brighton has alot of street art and cafes. Honey cafe is the cafe i work for ill keep an eye out for u guys liked the video enjoy it keep up the vids

  7. Thanks for calling out the caf /cafe issue . You are so right….I also think it's a reflection of the people who like 'cafs'…you know, like 'caf' people go to 'cafs'

  8. That was so great. I have lived in the country just out of Christchurch for40 years now but prior to that I lived in Christchurch for 25 years. Have not been back since the earthquake. You made me homesick. As soon as the warm weather comes I will go in for the day. It looks so different and yet still the same. So exciting. Where are you from ? You sound like New Zealanders. ❤️

  9. What a fun video! I work near the Riverside Market. Love going there for lunch on occasion. So many yummy choices. Also love going to Little High on the weekend for a treat. Bacon Bros is yummy, but really huge servings. I share a burger with my husband. Or I love to get the katau donburi from eightgrains. So yummy!

  10. Next time you are in CHCH check out Saturday’s cafe in New Brighton. The food is super instagramable! Especially the granola and porridge. The waffles are epic too!

  11. Holy Hell you two! This was an awesome episode. The production values were top notch and the acting superb!!!🤣😆👍🏻. Ok ok, it wasn't acting, l know that, but you do have seriously good production skills. Your camera work and editing is beyond excellent in this episode. Your work seems to have a great sense of pace, content and timing. Can't think of anyone doing it better!

  12. Eating is my favorite! Oh my, those waffles sounded absolutely amazing! Haha, Danger's face with his first bite. Also, there is always room for both (candy and donuts) 😉

  13. I just moved to Christchurch from my home town Auckland and I’m sooo happy I found this coz I’m starting from scratch down here 💕💕

  14. My favorite 3 places to eat in Christchurch is TopinTown (all you can eat indian restaurant), Genghis all you can eat bbq buffet and Bensons chinese restaurant. Im personly a quantity over quality person ahaha but they qualities still good

  16. Go to El Fogon. You will taste things you have never tasted before and they are all amazing.

  17. Was last back in C Church in 2017 and it seems to have progressed even further, so good to see! I now live in the UK, but was there also a year before the big quake and to be honest, it was heartbreaking to see the damage, but, still had an amazing time.
NZ is a really amazing, beautiful country, and you showcase it so well.
Many thanks again for your videos 🙂

  18. The first restaurant was great but others were just ok. You guys should try other better ones in the city.
