One of the traditional activities in Japan during New Year is Hatsumode.
Hatsumode is the year’s first visit to a temple. In popular temples, you can find different activities going on, food stalls with your favorite Japanese snack, people lining up to say a little prayer at the main hall and purchasing little trinkets for luck in the new year and disposing or burning old charms from the previous year.
