Did you know Fukuoka is one of the biggest producers of sake (nihonshu) in Japan – and some of the best! In this episod, we tour through the first day of &Sake – Kyushu’s biggest sake festival with tons of breweries, shochu distillers, and fine food stalls!

Fukuoka’s most significant sake celebration, “& Sake Fukuoka,” is an unparalleled gathering of 43 local breweries and renowned restaurants at the Fukuoka Kokusai Center. With its growing fame abroad, particularly in North America and China, Japanese sake’s export rates are skyrocketing. Fukuoka, rich with abundant water sources and quality rice, ranks as Japan’s fifth-largest sake-producing region. Though various areas host new sake season brewery openings, & Sake Fukuoka stands out as the sole event bringing together all the prefecture’s breweries.

This gathering invites not only sake enthusiasts but also those curious about this traditional beverage, offering an enjoyable experience centered around Fukuoka’s distinctive sake. Attendees can explore a selection of drinks and foods, including Japanese sake, shochu, and liqueur, which are available for purchase with coins at the venue. Make sure not to miss this two-day gourmet extravaganza, exclusively highlighting Fukuoka’s sake and culinary delights!
