Plan to be in Japan for 30 days next year for the sakura season, I am seriously thinking of just get the 21 days green pass.
69% increase is ridiculous
Thank you very much for this video. Extremely useful. I now know what is best for me.
it seems that the tokyo wide pass is discontinued coz i cant find it in klook ๐
I read that they don't issue pasmo and suica card anymore is that true?
Thanks. What about a regional pass . Is it still worth it ?
For example, Japan JR Hokuriku Arch Pass ?
I was in Japan last November 2022, going again at end of this October. I don't think It's going to make such a huge difference in my case. I used mainly Tokyo wide pass last time and just paid for my daily fares whenever needed. (In all the other cities and locations I went to). I checked all my receipts (yes……I'm one of 'those' people) when I came home and surprisingly there was about an AUD$80.00 higher difference compared to having bought passes. The only other factor was buying tickets at the machines in stations. I had no issue with that as I somtimes had pleasant social exchanges with locals in those situations, and I thought it was worth it for that experience.
RIP JR PASS. Im glad I managed to experience the JR pass without having to pay that crazy sum. It was fun while it lasted.
TLDR if you want to train hop within Tokyo a lot during your trip, or do 2 or 3 round trips from Tokyo via Shinkansen it's still 100% worth it. If you buy it in advance through an agency you might be able to get a 5-10% discount on it, we typically use Klook. I checked this morning and I can still get up to 5% off on it….I've lost my JR pass multiple times unfortunately or it stopped working randomly in the years I've gone to Japan, they will reissue it for you. The faster trains aren't worth paying the fee for imo just take the free Shinkansen.
What I currently recommend for passes is the Hokuriku Arch Pass if you want to keep doing the Golden Route. If you want an alternative to the 14 day, add the Kansai Wide pass on top of it. Want to go even further, despite the cost increase, the Kyushu Rail pass is still quite worth it
Thank you for the information
love your video

Another good รฌnfo on the JR pass indeed ๐ผ As always, thank you for your hard work on the informative video ๐ Have a wonderful day ๐น
Hey, I am planning on visiting Tokyo (3 days), Yokohama (1 day), Kyoto (3 days) and Hiroshima (1 day) during Nov first week. Would you recommend JR pass for this itinerary?
I used JR pass many times but I am going to use LCC from next visit. I think from Tokyo to Fukuoka or Sapporo by LCC are much cheaper.
Hi, you said after online railpass purchase, seat reservation can be made before going to Japan. This is in contrary to what JR Rail informed me and their website does not seem to have seat reservation screen available. Thanks.
What pass should i get for a 5 days osaka trip?
I see that japanese government is doing everything to discourage tourists to visit Japan lol
Hi, can you explain this for me. I understand that the JR Japan Rail Pass (7 days) allow free travel on the Osaka Loop line, free Shin-Osaka – Osaka station but what about other JR Rail lines in Osaka. For examples, from Imamiya station to Jr-Namba station (JR line too), does the JR Pass cover this route or not, so confusing? Also, if I only use the Osaka JR Loop line stations (save money), does all the main attractions within walking distances from these 19 JR Loop stations? What other JR Lines in Osaka/Kyoto/Kobe/Nara/Nagoya (if any) we can travel for free? Any JR good links, easy to understand for first time travellers? Thanks
