Day trips away from Kyoto include travelling to Mount Hiei, with plenty of historical religious sites of importance based here for people to see.

For a cultural experience in Kyoto that takes you back in history then heading to Gion is highly recommended with a city tour needing to include this due to the wonderful sights of the area. It’s unique and feel is a real glimpse into Japanese cultural practices from ages gone.

With Kyoto having a great metro system you’ll be able to get around Kyoto easily, inner-city sights of Kyoto include the Kyoto Tower which stands out and tall and provides visitors with amazing views over the city itself.
