Hawaii 2023 – A short tour of USS Bowfin submarine at Pearl Harbor

Gives a rather unique perspective on living "together". Imagine living beneath the waves for hours at a time, waiting to see if you can dodge enemy depth charges, or waiting to get a "good shot" with your torpedoes.
i fact check on that submarine! None of those fixtures in the torpedo room or head were ever polished brass. It looks sexy AF but no, very few components were polished brass, everything was painted or chromed, mostly painted. some valve cranks wound up getting polished but that was from repeated use. So, thats a fact check for historical misinformation, a fact check for illegally tampering with submarine controls and a giant fact check for transphobia… Not a single drag queen on the whole boat! Trans diversity seamen is mandatory in todays Navy. Anyway, that's a triple bowfin fact check, they're going to have to haul her out so the Twitter people can inspect her hull for h8…
you look very uncomfortable and in pain going through doors and you needed a hip replacement, look after yourself Dan but you must very strong to be in pain and running around Hawaii crazy stuff lol
Bowfin was the first sub I visited so I went around the country to visit others and I can tell that tourists dollars are really spent on the bowfin. The Pampanito is a close second. I would take a trip back to Pearl Harbor to visit her again for the 3rd time if they would start a main engine for me…!!
Unfortunately I haven’t had chance to see Pearl Harbor yet but on my bucket list. I was able to see the USS Paminto but at the time, it wasn’t giving tours so that was disappointing. I’d like to go visit again but not big fan of San Francisco, especially now.
I first toured the USS Bowfin in 1984. It was in rough rusty/dingy shape. Had to hold these paddle speakers up to your ear for a self guided tour. Lots of work has been done on this ship.
I toured it in 1981 at the beginning of my deployment on one of the Constellation when we pulled in to Pearl at the beginning of our deployment to the Indian Ocean.

Nice footage ❤
Toured her and the Mighty Mo in 06 never forget that
Played a lot of submarine simms. Nice to see the real thing.
I have toured the Bowfin when I was stationed at Pearl Harbor in 1980 to 1989, would help replace the zinc anodes every month!

The men in the forward torpedo room
Weren't allowed to use the officers
Heads they had to go aft to their own

just imagine in todays modern Navy with female sailors on board in such tight quarters- gives a new meaning to- "love boat".
