This time I boarded the Kyushu Yusen(九州郵船) “Umiterashi(うみてらし)” from Tsushima(対馬) (Hidakatsu Port / 比田勝) to Fukuoka Prefecture(福岡県) (Hakata Port / 博多港) in a 2nd class stateroom. I had expected that the “Umiterashi” would have luxurious rooms like the first-class rooms, but it is a very unusual ship in that all the rooms are free seating. During the ride, the roar of the waves hitting the ship’s hull strongly echoed through the ship, and the passengers who had been sleeping jumped up and said, “What happened?!” (I thought so too . lol )

💡Experience
☆The interior of the ferry Chikushi is well-equipped with air purifiers and blankets for rent, but there were no shower rooms or game corners.
☆Because of its popularity with fishermen, there is a special storage box on the outdoor deck where you can place your fishing rods.
☆Buses from Hakata Station to Hakata Port are available for easy access.
☆All the boats have unreserved seats, so there is no variation in the boarding fee.
☆When sailing in rough seas, the waves hit the ship so hard that you would think a bazooka was hitting the ship.
☆The ship is equipped with a hot water heater, but cup noodles were not sold.
☆The only food available on board is Calorie Mate from the vending machine.
☆On the “Umiterashi,” window-side sofa seats are very popular and were already full when I boarded.
★海が荒れている中での航海だと船体に波が強くぶち当たるのでバズーカが当たったかと錯覚するほどの大きな音が船内に響く
★船内には給湯器が完備されているが、カップラーメンは販売していなかった。
★船内には売店は無く、船内で手に入る唯一の食料は自販機にあるカロリーメイトのみ。
★「うみてらし」では窓側のソファー席が人気で乗船した時にはすでに満席だった。
★フェリーちくしの船内は空気清浄機や毛布の貸し出しなど設備は十分に整っているけどシャワールームやゲームコーナーが無かった
★釣り人にも人気ということもあり、屋外デッキに釣竿が置ける専用の格納箱があった
★博多駅から博多港行きのバスがあるからアクセスしやすい
★全てが自由席なので乗船料金にばらつきがない。
