You should come to Hong Kong!
Thanks ! Didn't know about the Korean birthdays.
A bit of a late comment (?) – I am currently on exchange in Japan – in Tokyo. It is my third time being here and it is so amazing.
I have only been in the women's only carriage once – which was 6 years ago (little 15 y,o me not knowing negative aspect of it. But yeah it is tiny bit sexist etc but I generally feel safe. I don't know.
But it is magnificent here – loved the peace memorial in Hiroshima – there was an image that will stick for me forever – it was my first time there in 2009 and I remember watching a group of school girls, must of been in high school singing in a choir where all the paper cranes were in the park, they were crying while singing about people who passed away/the incident itself. So moving.
I listen to K-Pop. 2NE1, Tiny G, G- Dragon, and lots of others. I started with M-Flo and Dragon Ash over ten years ago and it grew from there. I listen to music from all over. I love it. Music is universal. Doesn't matter to me what language it is in. If I like it I will listen to it. I have translated a few songs which took me a little longer than I thought but I now know what those songs mean. Some were already translated so that was easy. Have a great day.

0:18 OMG THOSE GUYS WERE DANCING TO BOY IN LUV BY BTS! Please excuse my hugs freak out but I am an intense A.R.M.Y. and I am SO happy that you've gotten into Big Bang! As soon as you started singing Loser I got SO EXCITED! ^_^ gosh this video made me so happy because I LOVE both South Korea and Japan
Somehow you managed to turn a bigotry device that segregates men and keeps women safe from the few into something that is bad
okay
Korea is just suck country and most evil.
That is weird.
at 0:19 those guys were dancing to bts – boy in luv omg !!!!!
*learned
I spent 10 days in Japan! It was amazing. Also it was explained to me that one of the reasons for women only carriages was also because of how crowded the trains can get (people literally have to be pushed through the doors, it's ridiculous), and of course some women don't feel comfortable being pressed up against men with no breathing space for their whole commute.
you are completely fantastic!!
I think that the person who told you about the women only carriages didn't explain it properly. They don't exist as a mean to protect women at night and has little to do with drunk men, but with salary men going to and coming back from work. In fact, they don't serve as a women only carriage all day but have a special schedule (they are active mostly during peak hours). This is because during peak hours the trains are packed with people. You end up touching the ones around you because there are too many people on the train. There may be men who touch women using the fact that there is very little space between people and Japanese women won't speak up. So in order to prevent this from happening, women only carriages were made. I, personally, don't see this as a victim-blaming, but as an immediate solution to an existing problem.
By the way, there is no Japanese law forcing this into people but are the train companies asking this as a favour.
+Hannah Witton What qualification do you need to have to teach english in korea? thanks @Hannah Witton
am I the only one who thinks she looks like Emma Watson?
My thoughts exactly about the Hiroshima memorial … My favourite place I visited whilst there xx
If you have chance to read some history of China's Tang dynasty ,it had a profound influence of Japanese culture, and the Ming dynasty to South Korea.I love Tang very much, greatest poets, fabulous buildings(be honest to say that Japan's temples or other building more retained the essence of the tang dynasty in China, just like the kyoto),advanced bold sexual mores, and the only female emperor in Chinese history.like your travel videos:)
So women only carriages is victim blaming? What the fuck? XD
japan is much better than the west , people really respect others in japan while in the west alcoholics /junkies and teens insult and abuse others a lot
please come to Taiwan😊
I've lived in both Tokyo and Seoul, so it was cool hearing about it from your perspective 😛
There are women-only compartments in Mumbai local trains as well. There have been since the suburban local trains started running since before independence (in 1947). One of the biggest reasons why there are so many working women in Mumbai today is that they feel safe commuting to work in the train (Mumbai's daily local train traffic is INSANE. Think about 7 million people on the trains EVERYDAY. Almost 40% are women).
No one forces you to chose the women-only compartments, it justs gives you an additional option. To carp about thinks like these is just 100% stupid in my opinion. Women aren't forced to change their behavior, they are just protected against men who change their behavior to a socially not accaptable one while drunk or for what ever reason. And if there were no women who appreciated them they would have been taken out long ago.
ive travelled extensively in both japan and korea over multiple trips. japan is hands down, a million times better than korea. korea sucks in comparison… the major key point is the people. Koreans are often pretty rude and much closer in similarity to the chinese. japanese are welcoming and the country is a joy to be in. koreans (80% of them) look at u as though… fuck off dont talk to me, please leave soon
you look like you get 2 hrs of sleep every night
I used to live in Japan and loved it. I'm fluent in Japanese as well and it was such a different culture, it really broadened my horizons. I was going to stay and work there, but couldn't deal with the long work hours and how women are treated second to men so I decided to move back to the UK. But I still love visiting Japan, I love their fashion, anime culture and of course the food!
