Blizzard winter camping in a snow storm. Cold tent camping in winter during a snow storm. Using my Hilleberg Soulo & new Hyperlite Mountaingear Southwest 4400 backpack, I couldn’t resist going out backpacking & camping in this snow storm, or blizzard, that has been going on for a week. The forecast said 28m/s or 63mph winds with minus ÷10°c or 14°F. I choose snow shoes for this early winter season trip, since the snow hasn’t settled yet. It was wild but beautiful as I found a spot in the forrest with a bit more shelter from the wind. First trip with my new Hyperlite Mountaingear Southwest 4400 backpack. Highlights version!

  1. One of the best advertisements for Hilleberg on Youtube, you should be getting free tents! if they do send me your old one :P)

  2. Hi there, does melting snow and pouring the water over the stakes really do anything structural or good for your tent anchors !???
I've never seen u do it nor Eric Norman do so I don't think its needed 😮?
And you two r my " go to " snow camp guys 😊.
Also do u use 2 ' lighter ' sleeping bags or one for the various temp ranges you experience ??? I have been giving some real thinking to this as I see several benefits ??? But have not bought the second bag cuz..well, money doesn't grow in the garden 😂😮. Thanks for the awesome winter treks😊.
Setting up takes much more patience than " regular " camping..
Pouring rain is a skill of its own 😅.
    ATB friend !!

  3. Hello Jarl amazing scenery the snow covered ground and trees, when you are not stuck in rain storm you are in blizzard condition, stay safe out there

  4. What a strange feeling it must be to have only the thickness of a tent between you and the outside to protect you from a storm. Live it one day, perhaps ? But, the boots inside the sleeping bag so as not to be frozen in the early morning.

  5. The best of the best…….our friend Jarl !!!!
    🫵👍🙏❤️‼️

  6. Well, if it was 14° Fahrenheit that must have been one heck of a wind chill factor! Tiny snowshoes – do you think they do any good? You're down sleeping bag had a full loft on it! Didn't notice you digging the vestibule hold but you must have been in one. You are brave, hearty, and a determined backpacker!

  7. ❤ OMG wen was this? Is it winter already? Im just getting used to 60-80° days here. Im not ready ready for snow and cold here yet
. I Love watching u brave the wind and snow. 💕😶‍🌫️🥶 Thanks.

  8. Yes, I've read all the replies up to this point which I enjoy as much as watching your video.
These kind of winter wether conditions would likely kill me, yet you embrace these conditions & flourish. I can't image keeping warm in cold windy weather like you experienced.
Nice to see someone sees you as a PLUS for selling their products.
52.8K subscribers, nice to see those numbers increasing.

  9. Jarl, you sounded just like a professional sales person (Huckster is what they used to call a "Pitchman"). I am passing this along to my family. (13, 14 counting me) Good job !!

We need a Snowmobile with a cradle for a seat and a joystick instead of handle bars. Then I can go with you. Of course you'll have to carry me to my tent (which you have to set up) Oh yes, since you ll be carrying me, I should tell you that I'm 6' 5" and weigh 285 lbs. Ha-ha-ha😂

No, that just my sense of humor. I'm happy, laying in my bed, watching you. And as usual, you did your magic on this episode. Great work. Love your videos. Love blizzards and electrical rain/hail storms. You ALWAYS DELIVER !!!!!
It's been 25 years since I camped in a Colorado Blizzard. We, my Golden Retriever and I were stuck and unable to get out for 5 days. Snow was 18" but drifts were 2-3 feet deep. No problem, I had a 6 man tent lots of food, beer (step 2) firewood, fast running mountain stream (that I could shovel out), and cooking fuel. Three element catalytic heater (similar to a Mr. Buddy) We had the time of our lives.
Now I get to do this again, watching you. What a treat. Thank you from the bottom of my ❤.

  10. What a epic presentation my friend, this looks and sounds breathtaking! Absolutely breathtaking my friend!

  11. I've been subscribed by my husband's account for over a year and now I'm subscribed from mine.
    More than enjoyable!!
    Thank you.

  12. 👋Hi again Norwegian Xplorer,

Another wonderful & amazing video shared. The snow abound, the challenging weather, the harsh blizzard & the wonderful scenery all around, surely makes for some surreal & magical viewing.

It won't be too long now, before we're in Norge & seeing/experiencing this weather for ourselves.

Needless to say, we're so excited & cannot wait!

Here's wishing you well & I look forward to your next outdoor adventure.

    Tusen takk for sharing.✌

  13. I'm fine with the metric system, but I can't understand why meters per second is considered a mentally useful measure of wind speed. Yeah, I know. SI calls for m/s to measure velocity of things. That doesn't make it useful for wind though. If m/s is so wonderful, why do metric speedometers still say kilometers per hour? Someone didn't think this through.
Sorry for the rant. Great video.

  14. You have been "harded" by decades of experience, often including extreme conditions, such as this blizzard and icy snowflocks sharply hitting your face. You don't fear risks nor danger. You are resilient, and those harsh conditions, as this being isolated in deep snow and freezing temperatures, make part of your happiness as an adventurer. At the other side we can see that it fills you with joy and tenderness wandering through gorgeous sceneries, being integral part of – and deeply united with – nature in all its elements, air, water, forests, mountains, even heavy rain or thunderstorms or polar winds…… A valiant fellow, our friend Jarl ! ☁ 🌝

  15. We can always count on you to take us on an adventure. Wow, I was thinking…how does he make it in such cold…brrr.

  16. Looks very miserable; nice to watch from warm bed, will be 8.6C tonight! All windows open, 26 C tomorrow.

  17. Your content is the best! I came across you about 5 mo ago and so glad I did. I enjoy your amazing resilience and love for outdoors in such beautiful places. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us! Stay safe always
