The past month has been incredibly stressful for me, but I stumbled across this channel and it's been a godsend. Your travels have been a deeply comforting escape, and I can't thank you enough for documenting these experiences! I adore those cozy streets (even with the open trenches I'd inevitably fall into) and the surrounding landscape, it's all so striking. Then again I also like seeing the small stuff, like hotel amenities and vending machines. It's like a mini vacation from my problems without leaving home. You're doing very good work, please keep it up!

Unfortunately $20 for a burger & fries is becoming all to common in USA.
That doesn't look like a western style hotel including the bathroom… Our bathtubs are longer and more shallow.

Takayama is a lovely place. Its so charming and picturesque. Besides Shirakawago, do visit Shin Hotaka Ropeway, bus ride from Takayama Station.
The view of the Japanese Alps are gorgeous especially in winter.
In fact I liked it better than Shirakawago. I visited this area in Dec '22 and recently again in July.
Toyoma n Kanazawa are an easy train ride away too. I totally love the scenary from the trains in this region.
