Hiroshima Traveling: Tomonoura, Japan
I rented a bicycle and explored Tomonoura, a port town that is said to be the stage model for a movie “Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea”.
I took a walk through the retro townscape, looked at the city from a hill and admired the superb view of Sensuijima Island.
It was impressive that there were many shrines and temples.
Tomonoura is the only area that has been selected as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, UNESCO Memory of the World, and Japan Heritage.
