  2. In the lush, vibrant heart of Southeast Asia, the land of Vietnam was once divided, not just by borders, but by ideology and ambition. North and South, two siblings separated by more than just the Ben Hai River, battled for what each believed was the true path for their homeland.

In the North, Minh, a diligent farmer with ideals as firm as the aged trees in his orchard, dreamt of a unified nation under one flag. His vision was rooted in traditions, community-driven objectives, and the philosophy of collective strength. Like many in his village, he saw the ways of the South as divergent and threatened by external influences. Every morning, as he tended to his crops, he would gaze southward, hoping for a day when the country would stand united under a single banner, where all would work together for the common good.

To the South was Lien, a sprightly merchant in Saigon who believed in modernization and the embrace of the wider world. Lien's bustling city life was filled with foreign movies, music, and goods from all corners of the globe. For her, progress meant adaptability and individual freedom. She respected the North's adherence to tradition but wished they could see the wealth and diversity of culture she experienced every day. She dreamt of a united Vietnam, too, but one that thrived in its plurality and connection with the world.

Fate intervened one rainy afternoon when Lien's travels took her to the northern province for a trade event. There, amidst the aged pagodas and serene landscapes, she met Minh. Despite their contrasting beliefs, they found common ground in their shared love for Vietnam and its rich heritage. Their spirited discussions turned into deep conversations, and in time, love blossomed. While the nation around them remained divided, Minh and Lien's union symbolized hope – that two differing hearts could find harmony and that Vietnam, too, could find a way to unite its contrasting souls.

  6. Kyle Le is still in Vietnam if you’re still there. A YouTube travel OG like you. He seems open to showing other yters around. Thematic and purposeful videos like you.

  7. At first I thought that was the arm of a couch. Then I thought, no, too "hairy?". Its someone's arm….. Wait, that's a leg…. Too much time on my hands…

  8. After almost 1000 years under Chinese colonization, Vietnamese retake the government in 905 and official declare of independence from China after defeat Chinese fleet in 938 At that time, the territory include northern and half of north central, and then slowly expand to the south At about 1550, politics changed, the king became symbol, the real power were share by the Lord of Trịnh regime at the traditional territory and the Lord of Nguyễn regime at new land which was extend to all north central( Huế and Đà Nẵng now) To ovoid being overthrow by the Trịnh, Nguyễn regime did strong expand to south and at around 1700 it reached the south end of Vietnam now Northern Vietnamese is purity, but the southern Vietnamese is a set of Vietnamese(Kinh ethnic), Chinese( Hoa ethnic, who escaped China when Ching dynasty overthrown the Ming dynasty), Chăm ethnic( descendent of the Champa empire, who used to rule the central and southern for the far past) Khmer ethnic from the Khmer empire( who invaded the southern over the Champa)

  9. Good overall assessment, bro. I'm Vietnamese living in Cali for most of my life. I've visited VN a few times already; however, have spent most of my time in HCM City. I've visited other regions but have not gone to the north – yet. Will definitely plan that the next time I go there. Overall, I think your assessment is fair and understandable. Not everything and everywhere will hit everyone the same way. What's important is the journey. Thanks for the upload and best wishes on your continued adventure.

  10. You are dead on accurate about Hoi An and that goes the same as Saigon, Ha Noi, Nha Trang. It has became so touristy with backpackers being so entitled. The locals actually do not like them, especially in Hoi An.

  11. Interesting observation about the friendliness of the people as traditions and most Vietnamese even said Southerners are more open, lively, friendly and fun to be around with whereas the Northern Vietnamese tend to be more reserved, boring, and keep to themselves (not as friendly). I noticed more tourist agreed with this too. But we all have our interpretations of how we perceived someone as being friendly, etc.

The visa situation has improved a lot since 8/15, the government allow travelers a 90 day visa with multiple entries whereas when you went there it was only a 30 days visa travel so a lot of tourist hated that. Also, for visa exempt countries, they can go to Vietnam for 45 days. I did hear some tourist said the process has a lot of questions on it but some didn't mind or was bothered by it. You can also do the E-Visa electronically before going there from what I heard so it's easier to get into the country now.

  12. A true Saigonese here. I agree a lot of things regarding north and south. I have lived in both cities recently. Hanoi is good for travelers since it shows the old and traditional Vietnam however I would not live there. I commuted to Hanoi from Saigon for work on weekly basis and love my time there.

  14. You like authenticity, cultural and past time experiences that exists in modern days. You should explore Hue on your next visit to Vietnam. Also, did you get a chance to visit Ho Chi Minh mausoleums in Hanoi?

  15. Been awhile since ive watched any of your videos. You're looking very healthy. Im just short of 60 and with the way my health has turned in the last 2 years (painful knees), I'm really glad i traveled a lot when younger. I need to lose weight. Great content
