Japanese Ghost Town | Abandoned Public Housing [4K 60FPS]

Today I’m walking around one of the many hidden and forgotten places of Japan – an abandoned danchi near Sekiya Beach in Niigata city.

A danchi is a type of public housing complex that was built in Japan from the 1950s to the 1970s to accommodate the rapid urbanization and population growth after World War II. Many of these complexes are now aging and decaying, and some of them have been deserted by their residents due to various reasons, such as depopulation, economic decline, natural disasters, or lack of maintenance.

This neighborhood is mixed with many abandoned buildings sitting side by side with still occupied structures. It’s eerie and feels like a ghost town.

There is a nice seaside park at the far edge of estate. I walk through it a bit before the end of the video, so stay tuned to the end.
