Zydeco Music in Louisiana – Zydeco Music 2016 – Things To Do in Louisiana – Our family went to Downtown Alive in Downtown Lafayette, Louisiana to listen to some Zydeco (Cajun) music. The band Zydeco Radio was playing at Downtown Alive, and they are a really great Zydeco/Cajun band! The kids had a really great time.

Downtown Alive is a free music concert series every Spring and Fall in Downtown Lafayette. Every Friday they have a new Louisiana band playing on the stage.

Zydeco and Cajun music a musical genre evolved in southwest Louisiana by French Creole speakers which blends blues, rhythm and blues, and music indigenous to the Louisiana Creoles and the Native people of Louisiana.

Cajun music is often mentioned in tandem with the Creole-based, Creole-influenced zydeco form, both of Acadiana origin.
