So helpful, Kristen! Thanks!
These are all great tips! It works out very well that I tend to wear long pants most of the time especially in Europe. One of the struggles I face is with having a camera and filming equipment out while vlogging. People will easily know I am most likely not from that place when I am out vlogging. As I always travel with my backpack, it does help that I can put away my camera and gorillapod into my backpack when I'm not filming anything for a while.
Thanks for all the great tips! I love the sponsorship of Unbound Merino. Merino wool is my absolute favorite to knit with!! ❤ So happy to have found your channel today.
This was such an informative video, I learned so much.
Thank you for the great videos and tips Kristin. My daughter from the US married a Scotsman. They live in Ashford Kent and so many of your experiences resonate with what she has experienced as well.
Great tips girlfriend! Thanks! ❤
So, I’m confused. Should I wear my Royal Stewart Tartan sportcoat to Edinburgh, or not? 😂
Excellent video! Thank you, Kristin 🙂
Your so beautiful Kristin! ❤ Seeing your lovely face always makes my day! 😊
One tip I like to use is to carry a local newspaper and I never count money in public:)
As always Kristin some really nice tips from someone who has traveled as much as I have.
All good tips. It's funny there is a UTube couple that wears cheesy 'Retirement Travelers' matching white T-Shirts and hats everywhere they go! They are cool people, but damn they look pretty rediculous!
Thanks for the information 🙂, I am not a flashy guy, so I will be safe.😊
IN A MARKET IN EQUATORIAL GUINEA 😮 …NICE TRY THO..❤
TOP TIP U MAY B THE WRONG COLOUR…SO DONT LOOK LIKE U WORTH ROBBIN.. .AND LEAVE ENOUGH IN YOUR POCKETS TO MAKE EM REASONABLY HAPPY 🎯👍….SOND ADVICE THAT IS❤
Excellent suggestions, Kristin ! Thanks so much !🤠🍷🍓
❤❤❤
Great information thank you very much.
…and please do not carry Bed pillow on your next flight vacation, I can not get over it. It is not classy and looks really tacky.
Great Information. Thank you
Learning some local vocabulary and observing the culture are my faves. Thank hou Kristin ❤
It is okay to look like a tourist because that is what you are, so have fun. You will always be able to spot the tourist no matter the dress code because they look at sights and surroundings in a way that locals take for granted. If you want to be left alone and not stick out, dress in business smart / smart casual in classic colours. People will think you are on a business trip and treat you more seriously. They will instantly drop any bad feelings they have about tourists. With that dress code, you can enter any place without concern (church, museum, cafe, any restaurant), the only place they might not let you in is the beach bar or club. Regardless of dress code just be polite, and try to not be a hindrance to the locals who are going about their day. A smile or a nod of acknowledgement will go a long way.
I do hope that some of your fellow Americans watch and learn from this excellent video Kristin.
You can usually spot American tourists a mile away. They tend to dress in bright, inappropriate clothing with the men wearing baseball caps. Backwards! Well, when I say "spot" what I really mean is "hear". Most American tourists are loud. Very, very LOUD!!!!!!
Weirdly, I’ve been asked for directions in every country I’ve been in, from Iceland to Costa Rica and all over Europe. I never wear a backpack, athletic wear wear or carry around a map. For safety reasons especially, I think it’s very important to try to be as inconspicuous as possible.
Great tips as always, Kristin.
Thank you Kristen, for more helpful tips!
Hi! is poker refugees service working?
Mama veastavendiga muchos gracias blanca
Wonderful tips, Kristin, thank you so much!
Good to go for neutral colours. I didn't know that about shorts or that Dutch women don't wear heels.
I used 1 wireless earbud while in a new city recently, while having Google maps on the phone in my pocket, to look less lost. The phone would just tell me where to go through my earpiece.
Great tips Kristin. Agree with all of them. I believe these habits become natural things to do when you travel a lot. Sadly, I've lost track of the amount of tourists I've spotted in Central London, who stop in the middle of a busy hight street to point and gawk at something, pull out a map (or their mobile) and just stand there, and everyone has to go around them. They're the same ones who hold up a queue to buy a tube ticket because they've not even done research on how to do it. Another one to avoid when abroad in a non-English speaking country: Speaking SLOWLY but LOUDLY in English to some poor confused local 😳
In Europe, I know it's a pain. Try not to wear warmup workout gear, and gym shoes no matter what part of the day. Talk quietly.
You are just so cool, and so smart! I just love you! 😉
Great tips you are a natural Thank You Kristin
Let's grow into Lucas what we really are. What are you lunch?
Wait 🛴🛵🛴 like Scholz
Blend in, good idea.
Thanks Kristin for the tips. I was all set to wear my sneakers and salmon colored blouse. 😮
Excellent! And thank-you for the app and website suggestions.
As a 77 year old travelling alone nobody ever assumes I'm a tourist. Usually the locals offer help, even when I don't need it. A polite thank you but I'm OK will suffice.
Love the tips. I always bring a scarf that I can use as an accessory or an extra layer to keep warm they can also be tied and used as a little tote.
