Back in May, I spent a week in Japan with a couple friends after flying there on WestJet’s inaugural flight from Calgary.

That wasn’t the only interesting flight we took on that trip though, and after spending a day in Tokyo, we hopped on board a Japan Airlines 767 to Hiroshima. Let’s see what a Japanese domestic flight is like!

  1. I’m always SO happy when you make a new video, Alex! Keep up the amazing work!!
Also I’ve been subscribed since you were making plane spotting videos like 4 or 5 years ago.

  2. Hope we get to see more of your Japanese flights soon. I took advantage of the observation deck at NRT when I flew out of there.

  3. WELCOME to Japan!
I'm so excited and glad to watch a report of my country's domestic flight on your channel!

I wish you could enjoy the stay!!

  4. Hey Alex, have you met a guy named Mikey Mcbryan, he’s my uncle and owner of Buffalo Airways

  5. I flew JAL domestic 767 from Okinawa to Narita back in 1992, which was about a 3 hour flight. I remember it being a very enjoyable, comfortable experience. Your view of Mt. Fuji at sunset was off the charts good! What a gorgeous takeoff. The whole world could learn some things from Japan.

  6. Nice and you could have simply done Star Alliance AC🇨🇦/ANA🇯🇵 Calgary to Hiroshima via Haneda & Vancouver. JL is Oneworld Alliance like the Canadian Airlines. On the opposite side of British Columbia🇨🇦 Washington state border🇺🇲 JL🇯🇵 Oneworld Alliance partner AS is based in Seattle Tacoma Airport meaning you can do Oneworld Alliance YYG-SEA-HND-HIJ.
In HND Terminal 3 be aware that NH🇯🇵 codeshares with PR towards MNL🇵🇭. You could have also done a side trip to MNL on NH and then back to Calgary on PR116/117 MNL-YVR and then domestic YVR-YYC. Some of the wide-body domestic flights will actually have a crew change in HND for US and Canada meaning NH115 plane might have started in Hiroshima and crew change in HND for YVR.
B767-300/ER has an Airbus competition the A330-200 because Airbus knew that the A330-300 will lose sales to B767-300/ER that's why they came up with A330-200. If you want one of those planes you might as well cross Sea of Japan into neighbouring South Korea for Korean Air A330-200. In Canada Air Transat A330-200s

  7. The rest of the world really needs to take a look and model themselves after the Japanese efficiency and how to get things right. I absolutely love Japan, the Japanese people, the Japanese food, and most of all the courtesy that is always extended when in that country. Japan? Please teach the rest of the world so many of the social graces that you are so good at.

  8. On domestic flight from Fukuoka, the rep at the desk if Tokyo was my final destination. No,I said. Going on Air Canada to Toronto and on to Chicago. My bag was then checked through to Chicago. You will need your luggage claim ticket, checking in with Air Canada in Tokyo.

  9. Your comments about the efficiency also connects with the Japanese culture of servitude leadership. Meaning, as a society everyone's trying to be better for their neighbours and for everyone else and less about themselves.

  10. I flew once on a domestic flight from Montreal to Vancouver (and back)
went with my (my now deceased) godmother
I love to see the world but unfortunaly I get either sea sick of scared of heights
    Love you content
    Cheers from Quebec

  11. Love your video…I saw recently Air Inuit got some ex-Kulula aircraft, would love to see a video on what they going to do with them

  12. Great comparison of the 2 airports & who they serve. Great to know they are so efficient at the gates. Great video Alex!

  13. Please, please keep the Japan content coming, it’s so refreshing to see something different on the channel!

I just came back from Japan, was lucky enough to fly on ANA’s 777-300 from Tokyo to Fukuoka. That bird had 514 seats on it and my flight was almost full, never seen so many people on a plane before. Japanese airports are my favourite for spotting, given their large observation decks, the weather is mostly good if not great, so too is the variety of the traffic you’ll see. You get some pretty good backdrops as well. I love that country to no end and I can’t wait to go back again this December!

  14. Your plane, a domestic flight took off during the day time and arrived at night. How is that possible if Japan is supposed to be a small country? How long was the flight?

  15. Dash8s in Japan, A series that's bound to be fantastic would be Dash8s around the world it be on trend eh

  16. Boeing basically gave those aircraft at really cheap prices for compensation for all the 787 delays as launch customers.

  17. Good trip indeed! I dream to come to Japan one day and try same kind of flights! Thanks!

  18. Great video Alex. Have not taken a Japanese domestic flight yet, but do have plans. We’ve taken plenty of flights into and out of Haneda T3 and for travel to SouthEast Asia, you ALWAYS want a seat on the left hand side of the plane. We flew almost directly over Fuji and it was awe-inspiring. I understand the Japanese devotion to the mountain, because seeing it invokes almost a spiritual response in me and that’s something I haven’t experienced over any other mountain.

As for the plane, despite advancements in the 777 and 787, as well as the A350, the 767 and the A330 remain my favorite planes to fly in cattle class with the 2-3-2 configuration. Just my wife and I without having to share a third seat is great.

  19. Too bad you’re too young to have flown 747s domestically in Japan. BTW several North American Airlines are still flying 767s domestically including AC’s Rouge, DL and UA.

  20. I flew that same aircraft from Taipei to Tokyo. I wanted to explore Japan, which I did some of it, but I didn’t wanna explore Asia because of North Korea, which scares the hell out of me.
