i love how the presence of marijuana tolerance in certain countries is not denied in rick steve's europe.
Rick, I am so glad you are on YouTube! I had some of your shows on VHS tapes, and was going to convert them to mpg files. After a few moves, I have yet to find them! Now, I can get them here. Thank you!
@cuntsgab Not sure if you are aware, but Rick Steves has been a public advocate for marijuana use for some time.
Rick you need to check out Cassis near Marseilles and Les Calanques. Fabulous little sea town and French fjords
@MilkDrinkerIntl It is 😉
First thing i'd do is to grow my Pot Plants if i ever decided to Relocate to San Sebastian, far – far – far away from the restrictive US feds.
rick steves, the coolest marijuana advocate there is
I've been to San Sebastian. Gorgeous! I'd love to go back soon.
I'm subscribing based on this video alone!
Me too.
The problem with these video's is tourist flock to these towns and ruin the charm
yeeahh so come here
I live there, thank you and we are not spanish we are basques
this is not spain is the basque country
If you want independence, acknowledging the fact that we are unfortunately part of Spain is the first step, don't you think? Confusing foreigners by saying, without further explanation, that "this is not Spain" will not magically change anything.
San Sebastian is not exactly a small town. It survives because of its tourism; it is a service-based city. So yeah, without tourists it would lose its charm.
If you want independence, acknowledging the fact that we are unfortunately part of Spain, and have been for many years, is the first step, don't you think? Confusing foreigners by saying, without further explanation, that "it is invaded by Spanish people" will not magically change anything. It is also historically inaccurate. It's not that the opposite is true, that we are all ethnically Spanish, but what you said is still so simplistic that is not true.
You know a man is intelligent if he has nothing against a little herbal relaxation ;)). Wish it was legal to grow it in Croatia too. Maybe one day…
Loved it just got back and already miss it.
Check your sources. Hannibal soldiers who defected were Celtiberians, specifically "carpetanos", and did not migrate to the current Basque Country, but they turned from the eastern Pyrenees and returned home (Tito Livio, History of Rome from its foundation XXI, 23, 4 – 6).
Regarding Euskera, well, is the oldest language in Western Europe's oldest, the only pre-Indo, and together with the Finnish and Hungarian the only one not descended from Latin. And finally, to talk about genetics, I recommend the study of population genetics of Dr. Bryan Sykes, called "The Seven Daughters of Eve" to appreciate the great antiquity of the Basque population. A greeting.
Basque Coutry is in the North of Spain!! Yo soy de Euskadi y soy español
basques are spanish!! I´m basque and spanish
I've been there in 2007! God, how I wish to get there again!
I'm going there in the Summer! Also Bilbao, and the caves in Cantabria. This Rick Steves guy gives a very pleasant overview! I like his being interested in the language.
I don't think you are showing what San Sebastian has to offer. Very very por As for showing a Marihuana shop as somthing of interest. In my entire live seen one of this shops. You haven´t mentioned the international film festival, the best restaurants in the world of the fantastic bars in the old town. Obviously you documents are not of any interest at all after seen this one.
BASQUE COUNTRY IS NOT SPAIN!!FREEDOM FOR THE BASQUE COUNTRY!!

Lovely place and the beach is to die for : )
Very cool. I'm excited to visit. Also loved how he went into the Cannabis shop.
I travel there next month..October..thank you for this video
That's where my surname comes from! Lazalde!
as locals call the place…..yes its name is donostia and its inhabitants are basque, mostly basque language speakers, s senastian is the alien name imposed on us and used by anti basque spaniards and illiterate tourists
so what is the true name of the region? I know that Spain has given it a name but what do the indigenous people call it?
Seems like a lovely place, but the sun is just too hot for me.
LOL square-looking guy promoting the pot shop!!!

It wasn't a 1830 fire, the English burned it to the ground in 1812

Ah, San Sebastián: they told me it was the fairest littoral city in all Spain. Well, for setting, agreed. That cute wee curve of bay with the mini-islands is, indeed, reminiscent of a small-scale version of Rio. But the city? The truth? For me, it has about 3 streets and Plaza Consti. to see, but the rest is nothing but a sprawling, apartment-blockey bathetic let-down. Lift San Sebastián up, plonk it 200 miles inland and it would be what it really is: a vaguely, modern-looking nondescript town with a rather small, but not unattractive, Old Town, based on one mildly attractive plaza, and, frankly, little else. Unless you like the pintxos bars.
Beautiful city and Basque culture, Spain is a marvel of different cultures and ethnicities.
