The Somaro tea house 🍵 🌱 in Sakata, is one of the few places outside of Kyoto where you can see maiko perform in public.
This establishment – a traditional restaurant – is over 200 years old and even today, the maiko continue to perform there, even allowing their audience to take photos 📸
You can enjoy their performances, have a cup of tea or a meal made up of Sakata specialties 🍲 that will give you a glimpse, if only for a moment, into the art of the geisha apprentices 🤩
