祖谷渓（いやけい）は、徳島県北西部にある全長約10kmのV字谷の渓谷で、約100ｍの高低差がある河谷の急峻さが見所の一つです。「小便小僧」は祖谷渓の中で、最もポピュラーな展望地の一つで、V字渓谷の底を流れるエメラルドグリーンの祖谷川が、目がくらむほどはるか下に見えます。

祖谷渓一帯は源平合戦に敗れた平家が落ち延びた隠れ里ともいわれ、「日本の秘境百選」に選定されています。「ひの字渓谷」は、祖谷川が大きく蛇行し「ひ」の字に見える場所で、深く切り込んだV字型の渓谷を一望できるポイントです。秋には谷底から峰までが全山紅葉して見事です。

大歩危（おおぼけ）は、徳島県北西部の吉野川中流域にある渓谷で、国の「天然記念物」および「名勝」に指定されています。約8～6千万年前にできた変成岩類で構成されており、吉野川の激流に浸食されて大歩危峡が生まれました。
全長約8kmにわたって続く美しい岩石やＶ字谷の景観は「日本百景」の一つにも数えられます。

大歩危の峡谷を行き来する観光遊覧船は人気があり、大歩危の奇岩・怪岩を水上から間近に眺められます。
また、大歩危にはいくつか川岸に下りられる場所があり、展望台を備えたパーキングエリアも整備されています。

Iya Valley is a 10km-long V-shaped valley in the northwest of Tokushima Prefecture, and one of its main attractions is the steepness of the river valley with a height difference of about 100m.

“Pissing Boy” is one of the most popular viewpoints in Iya Valley, where you can see the emerald green Iya River flowing through the bottom of the V-shaped valley, so far below that it dazzles the eye.

Iya Valley is said to have been the hiding place of the Heike clan, who lost the Genpei War, and has been selected as one of the 100 most unexplored places in Japan. The “Hinoji Valley” is a place where the Iya River meanders so much that it looks like the Japanese character “hi”. In autumn, the entire area from the bottom of the valley to the peak of the mountain is covered in autumn colors.

Oboke is a gorge located in the middle reaches of the Yoshino River in northwestern Tokushima Prefecture, and is designated as a “natural monument” and a “scenic beauty” by the government. The gorge is made up of metamorphic rocks formed about 80 to 60 million years ago, which were eroded by the torrent of the Yoshino River to create Oboke Gorge.

The beautiful rock formations and V-shaped valleys that stretch for about 8 km in length are one of the 100 most scenic spots in Japan.

The sightseeing boats that ply the gorge are very popular, offering a close up view of the strange and mysterious rocks.
There are also several places where you can go down to the riverbank, and a parking area with an observatory is also available.
