Villajoyosa
Villajoyosa is the capital of the Marina Baixa district. It is a beautiful, historic town, known best for its colorful houses, sandy beaches, and great fish restaurants.
Located just 1 hour from the city of Alicante by tram or car, and 2 hours from Valencia by car, Villajoyosa is ideal for a day trip from Alicante or Valencia at any time of the year.
History
Villajoyosa has a rich cultural heritage. Its history as a town dates back to the 6th century. The town has been settled by the Greeks, Phoenicians, Romans, and Moors.
The name ‘Villajoyosa’ literally means Joyful town and it is clear to see why. Villajoyosa is really a ‘joyful’ town to visit with its beautiful Old Town, distinctive Roman bridges, and authentic Spanish feel.
Around the town
Spend your time wandering through the thin streets of Old Town, walking along the seafront backed by rows of colorful houses, and in the newer area near Calle Colón, home to the food market. Here, you can pick up fresh local produce, including fish and shellfish.
Cost
A tram from Alicante to Villajoyosa is just 3 EUR each way, with a journey time of 1 hour.
I hope you enjoy the tour 🙂

Really enjoyed your lovely video!
I moved here a couple of days ago so it was very informative for me, thank you!
Love this video, I am lucky to live a few kilometres outside of La Vila and think it's such a special town.
Yes old school Spain is where its at but like many brits i struggle with Spanish and end up in the likes of benidorm 😂 but I do love the "untouched" Spain.
I appreciate that you love tondo research before visiting a place. Too many vloggers are lazy and there videos are a meandering mess. However, I am on the fence about this one because the camera is not straight. I know you are walking but some vloggers manage to keep a straight camera. Also, I prefer voice overs rather than music when you visit a place, such as the Valor Cafe. I will subscribe to see if this has improved. I am on the fence about subscribing, so I hope has improved since this video was shot. In any case, hello from Ottawa!
