City of Matsumoto is located in Nagano Prefecture at the middle of main Island of Japan. Matsumotojo, one of Japan’s most beautiful original castles, is the place you must visit. The city is also a good base for trips into the Japanese Alps, e.g. to Kamikochi, Norikura or the Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route as well as many well known powder ski resorts.
