    In WW2 Bari was the site of a horrible accident. The German attack at Bari, dubbed โ€˜little Pearl Harbor,โ€™ unknowingly hit an Allied ship full of poisonous mustard gas bombs. The Luftwaffeโ€™s lucky strike, which released a poisonous cloud of sulfur mustard vapor over the harborโ€”and liquid mustard into the waterโ€”prompted an Allied cover-up of the chemical weapons disaster.
