Awa-odori is a traditional form of music and dance that originated in Tokushima prefecture, located on the island of Shikoku. It is performed during the Obon festival, which honors the spirits of the ancestors. Unlike other Awa-odori festivals, this one takes place on narrow streets, where the audience can enjoy the performance without any barriers.

Another chance to test Sony ECM-M1 mic. This time using auto level without filters to test how it handles quiet streets and drum performance. Applying low cut around 50-60Hz in post.

  1. very authentic Japan in that vid, thanks for the share. Makes me wanna visit small japanese villages with provincial folklore.
    A walker from Paris

  2. I always love to watch Awaodori, it's somehow mesmerizing. Thank you Rambalac!

  3. seria mais legal se as pessoas dessem mais espaço mas fica todo mundo muvucado na linha branca 😅 😅 daijobu 😅

  4. Thanks for the video. It brought back fond memories when I attended this festival in 2014. It looks like the same performers too!

  5. I work at a Japanese restaurant and inside we have some display screens where we play your videos every night for people to watch while they eat and so many people love it!! Sometimes it’s a little distracting because i love to watch it too haha 🙂

  6. Little do these people realize they were just recorded by the internationally known documentarian Rambalac 📸

  7. так и просидел с дурацкой улыбкой весь ролик 🤓.

  10. I just saw your update! So sorry for this long comment on the video, but I've been following your account for a while. You seriously got me through the pandemic when I couldn't leave the house (and also couldn't visit my favorite place in the world!) So I wanted to say thank you because you have helped me so much. And reading comments on your videos the last few years, I know that so many other people that I see in the comments are also inspired by you. That's why I subscribed to your Patreon (you mentioned not knowing why people would do that!)… because you have such a great visual eye and curiosity, I watched dozens and dozens of other videos like this walking around the world but this is the only one I subscribed to and still watched. I'm not telling you all of this to convince you to come back, as I hope taking a break helps you figure out what makes you happiest. But I want you to know that you really helped so many people while you were sharing, including me. So I also wish I could help you now in your moment of need! But all I can do is say thank you for everything! You're basically the top auteur for these walking videos and I am grateful for your archive. I'll be thinking about you and rooting for you in your next chapter, whether or not that means you return to sharing your walks again. Loneliness and depression are no joke and it's going to be something difficult to overcome, but you have built an entire community that sees how special and generous you are. And we're all rooting for you! 頑張ってね、Rambalacさん! ✨
