🟢Miyoshi Giant Lantern Festival. A collaborative display of giant lanterns and fireworks.
🔵This Festival is a magnificent scene created by three gigantic paper lanterns that rise 11 meters into the night sky. In the temple grounds, you’ll find festival music, a service to offer a branch from a sacred tree to the gods.
🔵The event takes place over two days with the second day highlighted by numerous events, such as martial arts performances using bows, traditional Japanese music performances, and a stunning fireworks finale.
🔵The festival draws visitors from all throughout the region, and during the two-day event, the streets surrounding the shrine are filled with stalls offering food, drink, games, and more.
🔵Getting to the venue is easy enough – the Meitetsu train stations closest to the shrine, are each about an hour by rail from Nagoya, and there are direct bus runs to the shrine area from each station. From the bus stop it’s a short walk to the shrine – just follow the crowd and look for the giant lanterns.
🟢Trains|Buses run generally from 5am to around midnight.
✅ I must say a good stopover for all!
