In this jam packed video we explain how to double your money in Argentina and explore the wonderful city of Buenos Aires on just $50 (which would have been $100 if we didn’t learn about Argentina’s Blue Dollar!). We visit Casa Rosada, Florida Street, Recoleta Cemetery, the famous Cafe Tortoni, La Boca, and Mayo Plaza. We also try dulce de leche, have our first Argentinian parrilla, and end our day with delicious ice cream in the beautiful San Telmo neighbourhood. All on a fifty dollar budget!

We absolutely loved Buenos Aires and hope you enjoy watching us get to know this energetic city! This is the first stop on our South American adventure where we will be spending the majority of 2022. If you are planning a trip to Buenos Aires we hope this video gives you lots of information about what to do in the city as well as how to utilize Argentina’s Blue dollar (sometimes called dollar blue, blue dolar, the “unofficial” rate, or the blue/black market rate) to make your US dollars, Euros, or Pounds go twice as far! Argentina has so many wonderful places to visit, and you can see many more of them if you learn about the unofficial exchange rate early into your trip!

In our upcoming videos we will be exploring many more places in Argentina including Iguazu Falls, Perito Morino Glacier, and Ushuaia, so be sure to click subscribe to come along for the journey!

  1. Thanks for all the great info! Would you know if hotels and airlines (to fly inside Argentina) accept payment in cash as well, or just credit card?

  2. So, do you enter Argentina with piles of American dollars? How could you do this safely knowing pick pocketing is a thing there? I wouldn't mind doing this, but dread the idea of losing all my money all at once in a foreign country. I took a big bag of quarters and dollar coins with me when we went to Ecuador, which used the USD. They came in very handy for taxi rides and small purchases at the mercados. Don't take really big bills because few people have change for something as large as a $100 bill unless it is a large hotel or big business.

  3. Thanks for such an informative video! I am thinking of visiting Argentina in October. Is there a way that you paid your Airbnb with the blue rate? If so, how is that done? Would be great if you can share! THank you!

  4. Nice video BA is amazing you should check night life places like Palermo saludos amigos desde bs as

  5. well… you know it's not good for our economy that you exchange your dollars at those places, it's better to do it at the bank! that way you are helping to the illegal market so… it's going to be worst for the official rate.

  6. You mentioned Florida street for money exchange, I've notice that the street is long. Is there a specific area (between intersections) that would be best? thx

  7. Great video! Glad you enjoyed our beautiful city. And just to clarify, 9 de Julio Avenue is THE widest in the world 😄.

  8. Thanks for the tip! When you pay cash on an Uber ride, do the drivers pull a fast one and ask you to pay more or double the fare as it happens in some countries?

  9. Do people carry large bags/purse or is it too dangerous? Should I get anti theft bag?

  10. You guys are so nice. Very good videos. Light and informative.
I have a question where was your AirBnB? And if it was centrally located, would you share the host's contact? We are staying at a bad motel 6 analog for $86! … in urgent need

  11. Great video, I used to live in Buenos Aires back in the 90s, it was a great to see how things have changed

  12. Thank you for your video! This was very helpful for planning my upcoming trip. I just read an article from ABC News that mentioned a new (Nov 22) blue rate for foreign credit card users that appears to be even better than the the blue cash exchange rate. Any thoughts on now using credit vs cash exchange?

  13. I will start by saying that I enjoyed most of your video and appreciate how much care you seem to take in opening yourselves up to other cultures. That said, I was disappointed to hear you mispronounced dulce de leche over and over again throughout. For something that is such a significant cultural staple in Argentina (which I'm sure you ate in various forms many times throughout your trip), it would have been nice for you to take the time to learn how to pronounce it correctly.

  14. Hi guys. Great video, and well put together. Maybe it's me, but…when you send hard currency money to Western Union, do you draw out that hard currency and then go to get the blue rate from an exchange place, or what? Puzzled, as why would WU give you the Blue Rate? Thanks in advance…

  15. Love your VLOGS. Especially this one of Buenos Aires, where I lived for 1 year and one of my favorite cities in the world.
