This is how I plan to get ready to travel to Japan for the very first time! Doing these 7 things before arriving in Japan hopefully will help me have a smoother time in Japan.

I started by creating a wish list full of things I want to do in Japan – it includes mostly the touristy stuff since it’s my first time in Japan. I will then add them to my list on Google Map, as well as watching/reading on other people’s recommendations.

I always make sure I figure out a way to get around. In Japan, I learned a few things about the train system in Tokyo and the public transportation in other regions.

I also like to know a little bit of Japanese before arriving in Japan, so I can start small conversations. Google Translate and Google Map will be my best friend in Japan, so I made sure I have a way to connect while I’m out and about in Japan.

Lastly, Japan is still very much cash-based. And I figure out a few ways I can get Japanese Yen before I arrive in Japan, and even after I land.

  1. I forgot to add to this list but I also have to apply for a tourist visa to visit Japan. It was so easy to do, everything is done online! If you have to get a tourist visa to go to Japan, make sure to do it about 3 months before you land in Japan 😄

  2. Thank you for the video! It's super useful! What kind of accommodations did you book? Hotels, airbnb or maybe ryokans? Enjoy your trip ❤
