An all-day coach journey? I could do without it to be honest. But by the time I got off at the end of the day, has my opinion changed?

Join me on this 9½ hour coach journey from Oslo to Stavanger in Norway. Trust me, it will be worth it…

Hi, I’m Steve from Scotland. I plan, film and edit travel videos both at home and throughout the world, with all the work done myself. I try to go a bit beyond the normal tourist route, exploring less-visited places and would be honoured if you’d come along as well. But please don’t expect an expert guide, if that’s what you’re after, this is probably not the channel for you. What you WILL find here though are my 100% honest impressions of what I see along the way, albeit as a layman. And I always believe the star of any video is not me, but the places I visit. I hope this comes across and you can feel like you are there with me. Please remember to subscribe, like, comment, share, all that stuff if you enjoy my videos (or even a thumbs down if you don’t!). I make a conscious effort not to say this in the videos themselves, but it would be a massive help to the channel and open it up to bigger audiences around the world. Oh, and who’s that with me in many of the adventures? Well that must be my glamorous sidekick Alicja (who features as often as she can). Thanks for watching and enjoy the video 🙂

FAQs:
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I was born in Glasgow but have lived in Carnoustie, Dalgety Bay, Stonehaven, Edinburgh, Montrose, and further afield (Salamanca, Spain & Devonport, New Zealand)
WHEN DO YOU UPLOAD?
Saturdays at 10am Scottish time. Occasionally a bonus midweek video will pop up.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I film with a GoPro11 and my iPhone12. I edit on iMovie and use epidemicsound.com for music. I also use canva.com for thumbnails etc.
WHY DON’T YOU SPEND LONGER AT DESTINATIONS?
The usual suspects I’m afraid – time and money! Hotels especially these days make my eyes water like a true Scotsman.
WHERE’S ALICJA?
Alicja will feature as often as possible, but I’m afraid she has a proper job so it can take weeks for our schedules to match up.
DO YOU PAY FOR YOUR OWN TRAVEL?
Yes I do. I’ve only ever accepted a complementary ticket as compensation for a previous problem. All my opinions are frank and honest reflections of travel as I experience it.
WHY THE ADS?
It’s my income, I can’t do this for free.
CAN I CONTACT YOU?
I used to list my email address but felt bad not having the capacity to respond to everything so took it down (and I got a LOT of spam so missed many genuine messages along the way).
HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE CHANNEL?
Watching my videos is of course support enough, but if you’d like to support further, I’ll pop links below for Paypal and Patreon. All kind donations are super-appreciated and will go 100% towards future filming trips.
DO YOU ACCEPT SPONSORSHIPS?
I don’t like to upset the flow of my videos, so I don’t even include mid-roll ads anymore (at significant loss of income to myself), so I prefer not to include sponsorships either. I’m open to a small slide at the start/end of each video, but I don’t want to get into talking about products, it’s something I don’t like as a viewer myself (especially as a viewer who pays for YouTube Premium). So it’s probably a polite no, although all of this goes out the window if you offer me something which can give me the chance to make a video for my audience that would otherwise be impossible.

  1. Great Scenery, Gives Scotland a run for its money 👍 Thanks for giving us the benefit of this Steve 👍

  2. They certainly like their tunnels.

5:50 But I think they just got carried away here! 😂 I assume there mutt at least be a footpath up there.

  3. The idea of spending 8+ hours on a coach makes me shudder a little, but as a video, that was unexpectedly special!

  4. another phenomenal video 🙂 for my sake, you could have made the video much longer… cheers maid, greetings from Denmark! And thanks!

  5. Thanks Steve, that was a beautifully shot vlog & scenery accompanied by very therapeutic music too. Thank you, its made my day better.

  6. 9 & 1/2 hours – true devotion to the cause! What a beautiful country and superbly filmed. As always, a joy to watch.

  7. Steve a fjords cruise from Southampton with included bus travel is a great way to see the very small fjords

  8. Yes, I'm with you regarding fellow passengers who don't stop to think about others. We have a long flight coming up later this year and I've bought some Loop earplugs!

  9. I live in the southeast parts around Oslo, which is just "fine enough" (It is true 😅), so whenever I drive out west, I'm grinning from ear to ear too – it's all so pretty 😂

  10. I have been fortunate to have seen much of Norway through work and holidays, so the wonderful scenery was as expected but….windscreen wipers on the top deck of a coach, that was astonishing!

  11. The man talking on the coach reminded me of a theory of mine.. on every train, plane or coach journey, there will always be one person who stands out as being a right royal pain, ruining it for everyone else. More often than not I end up sitting close to this person. A beautiful journey.

  12. Yes, the social experiment of using your phone and phone speaker loudly in public is OVER. Use headphones, be brief and respectful. If you're reading this and you're habitually noisy on public transport. You're selfish and you're a pest.

  13. pretty nice trip, if you really want to take a nice couch ride, i recommend Haukeliekspressen, you get to drive throught big part of minature of Norway – Telemark, few mountain crossings and so on + it's shortest way from oslo to west-norway

  14. Am a Norwegian, and enjoying your videos, especially as a "Siddis" from Stavanger, know every corner of your trip, driven it 200 times on vacation trips 🙂 Keep up the good vids! 🙂

  15. Must be a nightmare trying to get a pint in Norway for you Steve. Looking at all those endless fjords must be thirsty work.

  16. Lovely country, and travelling by train and coach (or even car) gets you cloe up enough to appreciate it properly. Who needs planes, eh? I know their advantages, having spent the last 20 years of my working life taking two or three flights a week, but I don't miss it now. Give me the open road (or rails!) any day.

  17. my favorite Norwegian city is probably be Kristiansand, though, if you allow for towns, I would say Ålesund would be really far up that list.
