►Hirosaki Castle Park is home to almost 3000 sakura trees, with over 50 different types – and in my opinion, it’s THE best spot of anywhere in Japan to watch the cherry blossoms.
There are lots of great places around Tokyo to watch the sakura cheery blossom, but Hirosaki in Aomori isn’t “just” great, it’s an overwhelming experience, with sakura everywhere you look, in this beautiful castle park, with Mount Iwaki (Iwakiyama) serving as a perfect backdrop.
Aomori is located north of Tokyo, 3h10m by Shinkansen, right under the island of Hokkaido. Once you get to Aomori City, it’s another 50 minutes by local train to Hirosaki, but well worth the effort, and I’d say it’s something you should see just once in your life.
– Enjoy!
