  1. Changes to Trails End just look cheap and lifeless. More like a canteen in an office building or something.
Even if they don't be bothered to move a few props to put Hatbox Ghost in the attic, there's room for him right before the final scene or even in the graveyard. It's just lazy

  2. I agree with everything you said Tom. But I would not have been so polite about it!

  3. If they keep all this up they are going to take away what made Disney a theme park with themed lands, it’s no longer going to fit the definition of theme park anymore, just change it to amusement park instead, if they are going to continue to put things in places that don’t make sense, also if they keep this up, Universal is taking note of all the mistakes that Disney is making, and they are making huge strides to try to take the number 1 Orlando park, and if they continue to keep going in the direction they are going, they could very well pull it off, I really have loved Disney for very many years so it’s sad to see the mess they continue to create on every level.

  4. Disney has gotten lazy lately. The rides, tech, and shows are just good enough to keep money flowing rather than really pushing the envelope. I used to truly and deeply believe Disney parks were leaps ahead of any other theme park. Now… they are just an intellectual property commercial.

  5. Hello Tom, What the hell is Disney doing to the Grand Floridian? I was there this weekend and saw renderings posted of the new remodeled rooms. Absolutely ugly! Where is all of these blue colors coming from. The Grand is a Victorian themed resort. They are wrecking it. Plus the blue in the lobby on the second floor? Absolutely HIDEOUS! Plus I see Beauty and the Beast themes in the resort. The theming doesn't make sense? The whole vibe of the resort is GONE! Guess I wont be staying at the Grand anymore. So sad……..

  6. Trail's End and Crockett's Tavern don't even look as authentic as a Cracker Barrel – they look like the Marriot idea of what a Cracker Barrel should look like. The modern looking seating and blatantly modern appliances scream about how they just don't care about atmosphere anymore.

  7. This time I have to say the concept of need for food in FW is exactly what I wanted. I wanted something quick and simple often when actually camping there. I think the style was okay before and maybe slightly worse now but the restaurant was expensive and too much for someone like us there for a week. Having a lounge and affordable food will service many more needs I think instead of scarfing down 4k calories for well over $100.

All that said, sad the long standing place is gone but it never was booked up when we were there and half empty. I think the money spoke on this and just wish the style was a little better but like all southern culture in disney or anything "rural" it seems they want to mute it because its offensive. Country bears coming next I bet.

  8. I let the ridiculousness over the location of the Hat Box ghost slide, I rolled my eyes over the audacity of the Wilderness whatever’s new themed restaurant, but I cannot let your statement about “what does Mexico have to do with the American west?” slide. Where do you think the American west came from? California? Arizona? Texas? NEW MEXICO? Seriously, read a history book. Coco absolutely belongs somewhere in the American old west. Maybe it’s because I’m from California, but the two are absolutely intertwined.

  9. They really need to stop thinking of Disney World as being the same as Disneyland. I disagree with the replacement of Splash Mountain at both parks but if they had to do it Princess and the frog fits Disneyland but doesn't fit Disneyworld. So if they're going to make it fit we're going to end up with another Epcot where we have construction for years. What they should have done instead is a Pocahontas ride where you're with her and Lewis and Clark exploring the west. This fits in with the land and uses an IP that isn't seen much that tons of people love. Then they could of had Princess and the frog on the west coast.

  10. You are right, Disney missed an opportunity with Trails End. Tom asked who would be offended by the previous art. Indigenous people would be offended by art depicting “how the west was won”. Wilderness lodge does a beautiful job with their theme. I wish they could have put more effort into Trails End.

  11. Interesting to see European history erased from Fort Wilderness while Latin culture is glorified in Paris.

  12. What imagineers, feels like its all outsourced people working in other countries working on these projects, aka they don't understand what they are building/the project – One of my dream jobs when I was growing up in the 80s/90s was a true imagineer (bob guhr era – here is a budget, go make something amazing!) – I could run circles around the current hired disney designers/developers, I feel I would be overqualified at this point (to their current actions)…… It's really sad

  13. Yes, they are creatively bankrupt. This has been evident for years. All they care about now is furthering leftist politics. That is where their focus lies, and everything suffers as a result. I don't think there is any going back to the Disney we remember and loved.

  14. 12 mins in: "as we head into the Halloween season…." in a video posted on July 29th.
Bruh … this early and eternal Halloween season is really out of hand Disney, its a literal 3 months before the actual date…

  15. Makes no sense. The beauty of the endless hallway is the quiet eeriness of the candelabrum floating in the distance. The Hatbox Ghost is just going to distract from that moment. And as for the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction in Paris – they also removed the appearance of Captain Nemo's head in the mirror above the organ. Another bad idea. At least I was able to see these attractions in their original forms.

  16. Absolutely hate what they did to trails end. It lost it's soul with what they did with the seating and décor and the buffet was one of the best. Making it a grab and go was a horrible choice.

  17. Trails end was a great sit down buffet, Disney totally ruined this restaurant.😡
This was a popular place at Ft. Wilderness, not now😡

  18. I never really got that there was a story on the Haunted mansion. I have been on that ride a 100 times never got that there was a story its just a bunch of creepy stuff.

  19. Here’s the thing- I don’t think this hatbox ghost choice, in isolation, is that big of a deal. It doesn’t “ruin” the story, though it certainly makes no sense and is annoying. I don’t want it there but I’m not gonna act like I’m gonna have a worse time with him there.

But as you point out, this isn’t one thing in isolation. It’s one thing in a long series of things both in and outside of the parks that shows nobody’s worried about curating the brand or creating a consistent experience, that the detail isn’t as important as providing some member-berries and flashy lights and technology sometimes.

I can’t remember the actual name for it but there is one now, where companies make these little changes that chip away and chip away at brand loyalty until they finally make that one big shift that causes everything to crumble.

  20. They un themed one of the best restaurants 🤦🏼‍♂️ We don’t want everything to look the same.

  21. I understand when you have a decline in institutional knowledge when seasoned employees leave, however, Disney is uniquely positioned in that fans have that knowledge, but could be the"new" imagineers are arrogant and have closed there ears

  22. I agree with you Tom, all the new renovations are modern prefab like without the Disney touch, they may as well just make every hotel a Marriott and all the restaurants bland chain branded eateries. And I hope to God they don't mess up our beloved AK resort next year when they referb it😮

  23. While Mexico is not in the United States, it is in North America. The US is just one part of America.

  24. I feel like the dragon is the most iconic of Fantastic so they would have to bring it back or remove the dragon the dragon from all shows. It’s made me lost hope for Murphy and the show so I hope that the being the dragon back as something better than ever. I hope they can do something amazing without the dragon or with the dragon

  25. Oh good, just what a crowded stress inducing theme park needs, more alcohol. Expect to see more fights.

  26. Iger is the reason for all the problems. He put paycheck out as a shield, but it ultimately it is his fault.

  27. The pictures probably offended the descendants of the lovely folks that scalped and raped my great grandmother’s neighbors.

  28. The pictures probably offended the descendants of the lovely folks that scalped and raped my great grandmother’s neighbors.

  29. The new theme rules is not to offend anyone. If they think the theming will offend someone it has to be gone. So now everything needs to be boring and generic.😊

  30. Trails End looks horrible! Who's doing the decorating? The team from some chain hotel?

  31. Sorry but this is what happens when you don't do merit based hiring. You can see it across all aspects of disney entertainment.

Heck like you said, covered wagons offend these people, disney is doomed.

  32. What is Disney doing at the moment?! They need a new CEO who is willing to make the parks special again.
    They feel so generic now!!

  33. You know the answer why the art was removed.
    Wokeism
To the current Disney employees anything American needs to be cleansed.
Imaginering died in a DEI house cleaning in 2020

  34. Every sector of the Disney company seems to run by narcissistic talentless people. The company history and principles appear to be irrelevant to them. Their own trendy vision supersedes the time tested design properties that made WDW great. Their disregard tradition and lack an understanding of why the earlier imagineers did what they did. There was intense thought into layered stories in addition to functionality. The new generation of imagineers don’t appear to understand the story being told and simply want to reform the space to their own liking regardless of if it fits the wider story being told. And the over sensitivity to anything historical by removing it causes the space to jar people out of the illusion of being in the story of the frontier settlement. Also, it’s an insult to Cracker Barrel to compare this to it. CB has true historical authenticity and personality in its decor. Disney’s sanitized and sterile modern take on frontier design is laughable. It’s lazy and uninspired. It’s becoming more obvious that every part of Disney is broken. It can’t be fixed by the people running it now. They are the problem and too arrogant and devoid of self awareness to realize they are destroying the fabric of what made Disney so great in the past. Great traditional storytelling and superior customer service. They fail at both.
