Nijo-jo Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located in the central area of Kyoto. Nijo-jo Castle was built in 1603 by Ieyasu Tokugawa, the first shogun of the Edo Shogunate. The first highlight is the Karamon Gate. The Karamon is a gabled four-legged gate, featuring a magnificent roof and colorful sculptures. The highlight will appear after passing through the Karamon Gate. This is the Ninomaru-goten Palace, a national treasure. The Ninomaru-goten Palace was the stage of history for a turning point that changed from pre-modern era to modern era.
