The Ranty Old Man vlogs from Japan, 2018. Long-time fanboy, first time visitor. 28 amazing days. Food. Travel. Site-seeing. Some very poor attempts at speaking, translating or otherwise massacring the Japanese language. Sometimes bizarre cultural observations that probably only interest or make sense to me. You don’t have to enjoy these videos. I hope you do, but if you don’t I’m sincerely open to your right to do so… or should that be “don’t so”?

This video: Day 13 – nearly six hours of travel on multiple shinkansen and local trains to get from Kyōto to Kawaguchiko, then a bit of a gob-smacked stare at Mt. Fuji, followed by a relaxed stroll around the town and stunning Lake Kawaguchiko, before heading back for another konbini dinner and an early night in my tatami mat and futon room, with it’s view straight across to Fuji-san.

Disclaimer: these videos were originally intended just for family and friends, so they’re mostly quite the walking talk-fest with lots of me ~(or bits of me)~ and sometimes not much scenery. They’re by no means your traditional professional tourist/travel vlog, but I hope you enjoy them anyway.

  1. Hello! I'm heading to Kawaguchiko from Kyoto as well this year and its hard to find guides online that provides this route. Do you know if this is still the best route to Kawaguchiko from Kyoto?
