JUNE 8 – JUNE 12 2017 |
6. K-pop and K-drama.
If you’re familiar with Korean music or dramas, you’ll surely like K-Star Road, JYP Entertainment building or SM Town Coexartium, all located in Gangnam, the birthplace of many Hallyu wave stars. That’s right! Op op op op OPPA GANGNAM STYLE! Aaand if you’re lucky enough, you’ll probably have the chance to see some famous Korean stars like I did! Seeing Shinee’s Jong Hyun and Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung during this short trip was quite overwhelming!
7. The landscape.
Modern buildings, traditional architecture, parks, rivers, neon lights, colored rooftops, mountains…all make the scenery of Seoul so special. Go to N Seoul Tower and 63 building to get a nice view of the city from above. I highly recommend you go just a little bit before sunset so that you get to see Seoul at day and night.
Don’t forget to check out Cheonggyecheon stream, take a walk or cycle along the Han river, or even hike Bukhansan mountain. I unfortunately didn’t have the time to do the two last ones but it’s definitely in my bucket list for next time!
9. Cool cafés.
Seoul is home to cool, cute, fun, fashionable, interesting cafés. From animal cafés, Hello Kitty Café, Lego Café, to Cereal Café, many of them are themed.
If you like the cosmetic brand Innisfree, then go to one of their Green Cafés. I went to the one in Myeondong and it was perfect to take a nice break from shopping.
If you love flowers, then head to ARRIATE for a sip under a ceiling of hanging bouquets.
8. And finally…FOOOOD!! Nom nom nom nom.
Korean cuisine offers a variety of dishes:
Try Korean BBQ (Galbi, Samgyeopsal, Bulgogi), rice dishes (Bibimbap, Gimbap, Kimchi Bokumbap), stews (Kimchi Jigae, Soondubu), noodles (Jajangmyeon, Mul naengmyeon) or fried chicken (06:00 OMG).
Seoul is the best place for street food lovers. Get some Mandu (Korean dumplings), Pajeon (Korean-style pancake), Tteokbokki (rice cake in sweet red chili sauce), Gyeranppang (egg bread) and my all time favorite Hotteok (sweet Korean pancake filled with brown sugar, honey, cinnamon and chopped peanuts).
If you have a sweet tooth, then try some traditional snacks/desserts in Hanok-style cafés in Bukchon area or Dawon traditional tea garden located in Insadong. Cold Omija-cha (magnolia berry punch) and Sujeonggwa (cinnamon punch) are very sweet but refreshing and worth the try!
The list can still go on, but I’m going to stop here because my mouth is watering.
Anyway thanks a lot for watching my video and for reading all my bla bla bla if you did! Annyeong! 🙂
