It’s no secret that there are over 160,000 restaurants in Tokyo but one of the best ways I learned to explore the city like I local is through an ultra-local walking tour experience with a company called Arigato Japan Food Tours. On this tour we got a chance to visit 5 different spots around the neighbourhoods of Yarakucho, Ginza, and Shimbashi where we tasted a brilliant selection of foods ranging from yakitori, katsu, gyoza, sashimi, waygu, and so much more. I loved this way of eating because we got to try way more dishes than we ever could as a couple on the road in a single night. Best part is we got to meet so many like-minded foodie travellers in our group that it was awesome to just chat and hang out. Our local guide, Ryan, was also super knowledgable and passionate about Japanese food.
