Stay cool this scorching Japanese summer with a mouthwatering journey through the most refreshing and delicious traditional foods! ππ§
As the summer heat intensifies, there’s no better way to beat it than by indulging in Japan’s iconic chilled delicacies. Join Shizuka on this delectable adventure as she explores the top summer foods that will not only keep you cool but also leave your taste buds dancing with delight!
Our first stop takes us to the delightful world of hiyashi chuka – a tantalizing cold ramen dish that has captured the hearts of many during the hottest months. Followed by Morioka reimen, a specialty of the Morioka region. This Korean-influenced cold noodle dish offers a unique blend of flavors and a broth that’s as satisfying as it is cooling. And we cannot forget the ultimate interactive dining experience in the summer: nagashi somen. Shizuka catches these delicate somen noodles with chopsticks while enjoying the summer vibes. No Japanese summer is complete without indulging in the fluffy goodness of shaved ice, or “kakigori”. But not just any kakigori! This time we try the shaved ice with a twist! Watch until the end to find out what makes this shaved ice so special!

so funny Shizuka blows on the cold noodles before eating π
Shizuka , Ellie ,and Estevan – you guys made it seem effortless despite the conditions of sweltering heat and humidity . The Korean cold noodles , naengmyeon , is a refreshing option too !
Did you blow on the Mt Fuji dish Shizuka on the first bite? π..
0:24 – Me every time Shizuka appears π
Love hotel street + somen. Booked.
Shizuka is so sensible without Sonny Side. Lol.
Tip: Don't stand next to American tourists on packed trains.
Lol I find it funny how the man said thereβs always a cloud over the mt. Fuji even on a clear day and the camera immediately pans to a picture of it and has no clouds over itπ
Dang! Great vid, only wish I saw it 5 days ago when i was in Japan. It was scorching hot. I'm from Hawaii and we have miserably hot summers as well, but not on Japan level misery. Anyway, all the dishes look oishii, and I'll try those next time. Aloha and ganbatte.
5:10 min Tesla π sugoi π
drinking Pocari sweat or Calpis or Coconut water works for me. π
The Love Hotel clients may not be happy with this episode. Lol.
Shizuka, blows on cold ramen before taking the first bite.
Hiyashichuka and Nagashi somen reminds me of my childhood trips to Japan. So nostaglic! I need to go back to Japan. I haven't been since January 2020.
Having those dishes in a "AC-room" , not convincing at all you "survive" because of those dishes.
AC allows you to survive, not those dishes.
Eat all those dishes in a non-AC room, and you don't sweat or pass out, then it's proved and you survive.
why no one told you that your bag is unzipped π
Oh I'd be ALL over the shaved ice hahaha
Wait, did you blow on the cold noodles before consuming? π I do that all the time. Iβm also glad you said βdrinkβ the soup rather than βeatβ the soup.
Blowing on cold noodles. So used to eating hot noodles that I do that too π
The heat and humidity decimated my appetite for the month I was there, especially in Okinawa. I ended up veering towards conbini sandwiches because I just wasn't feeling in the mood for hot food.
I come to Japan in 3 weeks so its always good to see more places to eat, I will definitely be chucking on a few kg before leaving π
This reminds me, re-men had a slice of water melon in Tokyo that one day. I'm not a re-men lover that's why.
Iβm visiting Tokyo early next month. I hope itβs not too rainy so I can have enough time visit these nice places π€
