With regards to traveling through China, best to call the British Embassy in Beijing for up to date info. The fine folks from The Foreign Office will point you in the right direction!
Chris an intelligent guy like you should be able to get Trudy into Vietnam.
Just when they look at Trudy and say itβs the wrong side drive.
Say, no itβs not. Have them turn around and ask them then what hand corresponds with the steering wheel! π
Chris, thanks for sharing with us why we never see you drive.
I always wondered about that
In Azerbaijan you can cross the borders to Georgia. If you want a safe and scenic journey I would highly suggest to drive through all the stans.
By the time you guys get all the replacement parts for Trudy,
You have bought a new van!
I really enjoy your videos. You evidently work really well as a team and divide jobs which suite each of you best. I and my late husband had the same system when we travelled. As to your next route when you leave Japan, choose the one with the least bureaucracy. I wish you both happy and safe travels. Gail, Czech Republic β€οΈ β€οΈ
Would it be a true Tread the globe video with van issues π€£
Guess – lesson learnt from trudy – old van is not for long journey.
With help or without.. we all love you
Japan is amazingly FLAT. At least most of it. Surely amazing.
Ship to India and avoid China please
Is there not something about that you need a personal guide in china 24h a day?
Take the stans route, it would be amazing to follow!
Happy Sunday
Love the caption of Japan adventure
Option five seems to be easier. And you can visit different countries. πππ
I was a long term resident in Japan on a student then cultural visa, have a look at getting your Chinese visa from Hong Kong, it used to work! Nothing on iOverlander to help you?π
Hey if above of us walked 50k miles, our parts World break too. Trudy Rocks!
Beautiful video.
Ok I vote for Everest way.
Those models were so cute!
Cheers to all the wonderful mechanics who taken care of Trudy.
Keep on Trudying around the world, my friends.
My vote is for Thailand & Malaysia. Service 22 times! Poor Trudy
According to Google Lens, the fishway sign says "Let's protect streams and canals together. Water is our most valuable asset." Hard to argue with that!
Those were some zen-looking monkeys!! I suppose living next to hot springs and having a soak whenever it's fancied would have the same effect on me, too. π
Ryan aka Father Christmas is quite the wrench wizard! πͺ Big ups to him for his help!
Can't put my finger on what in this episode brought it to mind, but here's a quote from the underrated Tom Hanks movie "Joe Versus The Volcano": "My father says that almost the whole world is asleep. Everybody you know. Everybody you see. Everybody you talk to. He says that only a few people are awake and they live in a state of constant total amazement." You two seem to fit the last sentence perfectly. β€οΈβ€οΈππxx
Hello my dear friends thank you for the adventure always epic or informative and definitely fun and relaxing much love β€οΈ stay bless safe β€
I am almost equally concerned & interested in seeing Marianne driving in India but I care far too much for you guys: I wouldnβt want you to drive in India. Way too dangerous.
If you are in trouble, you can easily find a car shop in Japan. Autobacs is the most popular car shop in japan.
If you get the chance please search for these shops, Autobacs, Taiya(Tire) Kan, James(Jms)
it will be fun like Yellowhat
Back here in Blighty the BBC are reporting about the number of empty/abandoned properties in Japan. Have you witnessed this? Extract from the report attached….
Official figures report that there are more than eight million houses standing empty across Japan, the reality could be even higher. One of the highest concentrations of empty houses or βAkiyaβ as they are known, is in the Prefecture of Akita, in Northern Japan, where in the past five years, houses have been abandoned at a rate of 13.6 percent.
I packed a layer of tin foil and super glue a great bodge
Love watching u guys β€ . Safe trip
Iβll the one that leads to Malaysia
Well , I do recommend this route ( China – Central Asia – IRAN – IRAQ – Turkey —> Europe ) …

If you wrap a little bit of aluminium foil round spindle that will give it a bit more grip. (Wipers)
Guys, really enjoy your journey. From Chicago and now retired 2022 and living here in Japan. I just passed my drivers test (1st try) driving on the wrong side of the road! Brave souls. Japan is so great. Your next segmentβ¦ yikes! Been to China in my past life several times and very βunβ Japan like. Actually a 180 from Japan. All the best! Be safe! Take your meds!
Option 2
Trudy really is a good company, she never give up treading the globe although she complains by creaking to give her a break to chat with her friend-mechanics once in a while. π
By the way, have you ever tried cold noodle dishes such as ε·γδΈθ―, ε·γγγ©γ and so on. It'll be another adventure to try those local dishes while your appetite gets lost in this boiling hot weather here in Japan. π₯΅
Enjoy this summer just like being in a steaming pan! π Safe drive!
You can fill your water tanks with spring water from Mt. Fuji for free at Michinoeki Fuji Yoshida. Go into the parking lots on the left-hand side at the top of the slope.
I would do the last one xx
So India and its food can be great but also can be dangerous for deli belly, My son went and he ate something in a good restaurant and lost 3 stone and had to have specific anti biotics back in the UK. i went to Goa and had a bad bout of food poisoning and im careful being a chef Thailand is beautiful been 2x i would go that route
Re the problem with your wipers if you tap in some very thin needles into the splines it will help to tighten it up works on a gear lever on a motorbike so should help
These videos of your Japan trip are incredible π
Suprised that you never visited a Koi farm on this visit!
I like the Malaysia route! Sorry , China may be a lot to deal withβ¦
Great adventures… when life throws you a curve ball ???
