So just to clarify, can the Nozomi/Mizuho ticket be purchased without the JR Pass?
Would you mind to explain it to me? I will arrive at Tokyo aon sep 27th and have the intention to use my pass from sep 30th to oct 13th. Should I have some problem? I mean should I have to pay more?

I only use the JNR pass for a trip from Tokyo to Osaka and back to Tokyo. I don't stay in Osaka. Just enjoy the ride so go/return in one day. Tokyo Station is in a convenient location too. Have often seen rest of Japan by rail so no needs there. Price rise is okay. It is better than air travel. Thank you for update.

Muchísimas gracias por la información!! Por suerte al viajar en noviembre podemos adquirir los JRpass en septiembre y no nos afectarà la subida de precios. De todos modos, hicimos cálculos y aún con ese aumento de tarifas nos seguiría saliendo a cuenta comprar un JRpass

I was going to get JR Pass for my trip in october-november but now i changed my mind and i think i will option for overnight buses or domestic flight…. 🥲
Is it possible to order/purchase a JR Pass before October, before the fare increase, to use after? Like for a trip in November?

The new price is quite steep for family of 4 pax. If it's only for solo or couple maybe not so affected.
Going in October mainly around Tokyo but going to Kyoto for a couple days. Would it be worth it to just get the Nozomi/Mizuho ticket to Kyoto instead of the full JR pass if Tokyo-Kyoto is the only long train ride we'd be taking? If its only valid for one day it might be hard to secure a seat?

When I went to Japan I loved visiting the little towns outside of the big city's with my JR green pass. Now that's just too much of a hefty price to just wonder aimlessly around enjoying the countryside. I could see a small increase every year but this is a 70% increase all at once.
