We are heading to such a big bucket list destination – Mongolia!! And after finding the cheapest flight in was from Japan we have the massive journey ahead of us to catch 6 trains, several buses, 1 flight and a whole bunch of elevators to make it fly with a baby and a 3 yr old to Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia to give our first impressions of this nomadic country.

Hi, we are Stephen, Jess and little Hunter, a traveling family who spent 2020 self-converting a van before moving in full-time to drive around our home country of Australia. We have now completed our lap, said our goodbyes, and resumed full-time travel before we wait for our second baby to arrive.

Oh for anyone who sees this, if you intend to ride the Shinkansen in Japan, be aware that of the gap between the platform and the train when boarding
Mongolia is my favourite country that I've visited so far. I went there for the first time in 2016 when a friend and I took the Trans-Siberian train from Putinia to Mongolia, and the second time was last month. The scenery is breathtaking, and the people are friendly (when sober). The food is quite decent and the culture and history are fascinating. In modern times Mongolia has positioned itself as a buffer between Putinia and China, and this goes back to the communist era when the Mongolian communist government was convinced that Mao was planning to invade and conquer, so it cosied up to the USSR and became a Soviet vassal state.
Have you tried khailmag yet? That was my favourite Mongolian food.
