I experienced the Kintetsu Shimakaze in its Japanese style private room.
It is one of the most difficult private rooms to reserve in Japan.
I took Shimakaze to Ise Jingu Shrine in Mie Prefecture.

  1. In order to secure a ticket, you have to finish everything from seat selection to payment within a few seconds from when the ticket is released. It's because there's a lot of competition.

  2. 0:43 Are all of the people on one side of the escalator to allow for people in a hurry to walk up next to them? Or is it just a coincidence? If this is common practice I am very surprised!! Such considerate people

  3. I love your videos, I found you through the one about the vending machine collecting tire shop. I've always wanted to visit Japan and these videos make me wish I could experience it even more.

  4. Do you have any recommendations near Tokyo? I'm going there by the end of this year, and we want to try something new. We go there almost every year but stopped when the pandemic hit. Would you know if there are mountain or sea villages we can visit near Tokyo? Thank you! P.S. I really love your videos. Thank you for showing us the Shimakaze train!

  5. I enjoyed your video so much 😊
My morning became more better with such a great view.
    Thank you ❤
P.S was laughing a lot when you were exercising in your room and the last sudden run😂

  6. Lol I'm sure your future wife and kid enjoyed the trip too. I like the Okage Yokocho very much.

  7. Japanese Railways (JR) are the best in the world. No other country can't come close to this kind of perfection / comfort levels. Thanks for showing up the most beautiful journey in a most special compartment.

  8. It's the first time I've seen someone exercise inside a train 😂
Awesome content as always! Waiting for more ~! ❤

  9. Aww wow! All i ever want now is to ride at the front in the upper deck! That is amazing!

  10. I don't know why, but I found it so cute to watch a grown Japanese man push buttons and play with things on the train. 😂 I'd like to go to Japan and ride the trains but I've never done it before so I'm scared!

  11. The way the train alone looks, reminds me of one of my Transformers toys from when I was a kid! There was a three-pack of Autobots based on various bullet trains that all combined into one robot. Great video!

  12. This was a great video wish we had something like this in Canada. Thanks for sharing this experience with us and thanks for the work out routine 😁

  13. (Part 1 of my comment):

00:31 Whelp, now I know who to look for if I ever go to japan, just to say "Hello" or "Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening" to this gentlemen…Now I know what they look like, but not the face. If I ever do come across this guy, I would definitely like to ask him what's his favorite spot in japan of ALL TIME, or favorite travel video he's ever made SO FAR in his entire youtube channel's existence.

03:07 To be brutally honest Experience Japan, you might as well be 45 minutes early than 15 or even 10 minutes early…Just saying.

03:39 "In Japan, the probability of a lost item being returned is over 70%" No way!! Really!?!?!? That's nearly 3/4 of the time literally getting the item back that someone must've lost on the train…Dang, if only other countries were THAT nice to give back the item that was originally the owner's property or belongings….That's very nice of them.

05:41 What a beautiful lovely train room you have here…A large window, a large TV, the iPad, the nice furniture and decorations on the table and the floors.

06:04 Ahh yes, it's one of those things…Well, at least it's nice to do that. In other countries you have to keep your shoes on at all times…But here, Nahhh, don't need to worry about having yoru shoes on, take off your socks and have your feet feel nice and comfortable…Man I wish most transportations were like this. Not only would it make the floors less dirty, but also make the user feel more comfortable and relaxed (Believe me, after a long day of work, our socks can get sweaty or overheat A LOT. So seeing that is a very nice option to have in this room).

06:18 Good thing they have a shoe rack there. It would be hard for the other people coming in to have to be careful where they step due to the shoes/sneakers on the part where they have to stand.

07:11 Awww that's nice. They at least gave you a nice postcard to say you've been here before…I wonder what happens when you go back on there for the second time you reserve this train….I wonder what that's like if they know it'll end up being the same person whom comes to this room once more in the near future.

07:2007:26 "Shimakaze" celebrates its 10th anniversary this year." "I hope it lasts 100 years" Wow, since 2013 this company/train was created. And also, dude, who in the world could live up to 100 years??? And also, I'm not quite sure if you would live to see the day this train turns 100. Maybe your children would but not us of course…But who knows, hopefully I can live long enough to see the 22nd century come around.

07:38 "Back to the story, this time I bought tickets for my future wife and children, for a total of three people." Well here's the thing, if you end up having a wife and child, when you do videos like these, either your wife and child have to be quiet at all times (not even speak a word or something, unless you can edit it out which will take a while), not bring your wife or child on board with you while making these videos, or have no wife and children at all and just pretend they're with you even though they're not actually there…For me personally I wouldn't have a problem being alone on the train, makes the trip nice and quiet. Yes, you don't have others to talk with you, but hey, the view and the things in the room is worth the price….But I guess later on in this video it explains why you felt lonely so there's that to think about.

07:53 "The total fees; 2 adults, 1 child" (¥13,860 ($99.00) That's pretty much the equivalent of buying a Nintendo Gamecube on sale in America in the early to mid-2000s. Unfortunately not in Japan though (which sucks considering $99.00 is not a bad price compared to saying $150.00 or more.)

08:17 Mmmmm, gotta love the recliner feature on the chairs, relaxes your whole body (and possibly even sleep on the train if needed. Especially when traveling at nighttime and it's dark outside.)

08:36 "Unlike a regular Japanese style table, there's no need to cross your legs." Really?? All japanese tables outside of this you have to cross your legs to sit comfortably?!?!?! That's strange. At least over here you can have your legs however you want, despite that chairs aren't really recliners, let alone on trains for this matter.

08:57 Ahh yes, gotta have outlets not considering we have more electronic devices nowadays compared to 30/50 years prior.

09:23 The TV Display that you see in the left corner of the room is on Mirrored display. What is displayed on the iPad is the same resolution that will display on the TV. Hence why there are black bars on the left and right sides of the iPad because of it's horizontal tablet resolution. And depending on which year they got the iPad from determines the resolution size. And considering the train was made in 2013, they most likely got an iPad 4 or an iPad 5 at some point in the first year it opened or when it was refurbished. It would mostly be at this resolution: 2048×1536. Hence why the black side bars appear on the TV.

10:10 That's because Japan has selected multitude of areas where only farming & parks are allowed to occur in those areas. Anyone doing commercial or industrial in those areas would have to undergo multitude of permissions, waivers, and laws regarding the building, pollution, noise, etc….But again, since Japan absolutely loves nature, most likely you'll find these places in either very northern Japan or middle to south/southwest Japan. Again, the south part of Japan has about a few islands near the country's shore, so if anyone lives on an island, it's awesome, beautiful, and you get to see the ocean every morning. The only thing bad about these places is that flooding, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis can easily flood and swallow villages and buildings whole and take them away as if it's a massive traveling wave pool (albeit much more dirty than regular water park wave pools).

11:36 Good lord, it's one thing to order food and pick it up. It's another thing when you mentioned earlier (at around the 4-6 minute mark) that the waitress/waiter brings the food to you, in a very lovely manner….Dang, Japan has waaay too many nice things here that most Americans would just abuse the heck out of this system if it was ever brought over here in the Americas, let alone South America. So yeah, be proud you live in a country that actually does respect customers as if they're wealthy, royal, and respected at all times.

12:11 Kind of a shame you can't control the Air Conditioning. For me 25 degrees celsius would still be warm to me. I need it somewhere in the late 10s early 20s (usually in the late 50s early 60s fahrenheit for those using the imperial system) for me to feel nice and cool during the hot summer days.

  14. (Part 2 of my comment):

12:25 I'm pretty sure the only ever time I would press that button is if the train derailed or someplace on the train has a fire that broke out in some cabin. Either that, or if someone in the room is choking or injured in the family room. These 4 I mentioned would be the ONLY times I would say you would need assistance to make sure the people in the room are okay and well.

13:10 Dang, those types of hangers are really cool to use. They use to produce those at some point when I was growing up in the 2000s. But by the time the mid to late 2010s came around, these just up and disappeared, and no one in America is sure why manufacturers ever removed these awesome hangers from schools, vehicles, mass transportation, etc…Thankfully they do exist in your country, so they end up being very useful hangers to hang up your belongings or clothing.

14:00 "It's nice, but what's this gap all about?" Well, if you actually look over to the sides of the automatic blinds, you'll notice that's how far it'll go down until it hits the bottom part of the railing as you would see on the left and right sides. The two other reasons are also, if the blinds went all the way down, you would have seen some sort of inner holes between the windows and the wall, which would have required modifying this train car to have them fully shut the window entirely. The other reason is more of a safety issue. In case if a fire breaks out or if the power in the train fails, the last thing you want is for the automatic blinds to have it fully shut and not be manually opened from the inside, or not even work to use the buttons should the power go out. So the reason they have a gap is that you can forcefully push them up, break the window, and get out of the car if say a fire occurs or if a accident or disaster is about to come towards the train (if it's operational that is). Thankfully, in this video, you didn't have to worry about breaking the window open or forcing the blinds out of the way to get out of the car. Although it would damage the window, there would be a good reason as to why the window would be smashed, just for you or the others in there to get out. Also, your room may be closer towards the exit of the train as well. But if the train falls onto it's right side, you may be able to break the window, and get out from the top. If the window's on the ground though, well, you'll have to crawl through the floor above you (which the floor when the train derails on its left side becomes the roof). While I may not be sure what kind of material the blinds has, hopefully it's made out of thin paper or something to easily rip should you ever have to get out of the train car (if it derails that is).

15:10 Here's something weird about me….Apparently when it comes to veggies mixed in with meat, especially in America, they don't taste that good. They're either made fresh, right off the farm, OR, they tend to be days old and uh, well, they taste like water and thus don't have any kind of additional flavoring to your food….When I saw that, I was wondering how does it taste? And it's interesting to see that Japan absolutely mixes a ton of things with veggies, fish, and rice…..

16:07 That's good to know from that prefecture…In some countries (Canada, Australia, United Kingdom), they usually go by districts…While in America if we say "Mie Prefecture", we really wouldn't call it "Prefecture" we would call it either a "mie" town, city, suburb, or area…I'm not sure if we use "Prefecture" in our country (I'll have to look into that if I have the time that is).

16:15 "This is the first time I have experienced meat melting in my mouth" 16:22 "No wonder it's Matsusaka Beef, it's the tastiest beef bowl I've ever had."….Okay seriously Experience Japan, those details you just mentioned is giving me chewing gum meal/wonka vibes….God I wish our meats would melt in our mouth like that…Our meats are always chewy or tender, it never melts AT ALL…..Funny way to describe this type of meat in your country.

16:38 "Private room, killer view, top notch food….Must be superb experience." For about the same cost as a Nintendo Gamecube ($99.00 plus tax) in the USA back in 2005/2006; Yeah, no shit you're getting a luxury royal experience…..Hopefully the train tickets were worth the money you paid for.

16:52 NONSENSE!…..Making videos like this for us viewers to see you enjoying your travels is gold in my books…Although yes, it can't beat the feeling of having other people with you in person to accompany you on your travels. And don't worry, you're not the only Japanese person whom feels this way. A ton of young people like you feel this way at one point or another because of how much time work absorbs every single minute of your life until you are done for the day…But another reason why you feel lonely is, well, up until this point, we didn't really know what you looked like until now….But now that I know what you look like, if I ever come over to Japan, I'm hoping to meet you and have a nice little talk and such….Hopefully not screw up your video recordings and such. But, to be honest, if I'm ever going to another country, I would definitely need to know how to read and speak the language first before I even go there in the first place (Yes, while Japan does have English text available, it'll be a ton better if I can speak and read the same language as everyone else in that specific country, just so I don't sound or look like a tourist from another country…Just saying)…Also, earlier in this video you mentioned about your future wife and child…Well, if you do ever get a wife, just remember that she may be talking to you in your videos…So you either not have a family and continue your video work, or have a wife and child but they'll end up talking in some part of your videos…Or, third option, if you're going to make these travel videos, you might not be able to bring your wife or children with you on the trip (considering that some train cars only allow females on board and that's it).

18:15 "Clear sky" Uhhh, I do see some clouds in front of the blue skies so I wouldn't say clear, more like a partial cloudy day, but thankfully not raining of course.

18:56 Oh Wow, That definitely looks like a comfortable private board meeting room right there, all looking out the window while having a nice conversation so.

20:13 Ooooooo, "Seat Cleaner Fluid"…That's something all bathrooms around the world should have, at least near the toilets (Except urinals of course).

20:51 Well Well Well, now I know how you hold your phone…I thought you had a smartphone tripod, but I guess not…Also, nice face appearance right there. Hehehehehehehe XP

20:30 "Upper deck seating" "One of the most beautiful restaurants" Oh my god that absolutely looks gorgeous…Reminds me WAAAY too much of 1955 Disneyland's Monorail restaurant where it looked exactly like this….That is really cool. Being able to eat near a place where they cook food, while seeing the large panned windows that shows the outside of the train as it's passing by cities, towns, suburbs, and rural local areas…That's awesome. Too bad our US trains look like complete dogs@#!…

22:50 "Like the Japanese style private rooms, the front-row seats in this first car are also very difficult to reserve." Wow yeah, those spots would be the most popular of all because not only you get to see what the conductor does on the train, but you have lovely views from the sides AND the front (which is really cool to see).

24:10 "This is the tail end of the train." WAIT WHAT!?!?! Not only do you have a great view at the front of the train, but you also have the Back Of The Train!?!?!?!? Now that's something US Trains do NOT have…Nor being able to see the conductor or the controls on the back and front of the trains….God man you're killing me here.

25:20 "The ticket of this room goes on sale online at (Exactly) 10:30am "One Month" before the travel date." Wait What!?!?!? God, hopefully those living in Japan reserved these on ONE of the days they visit Japan…God, you have to wait an ENTIRE MONTH, at exactly 10:30am Japan Standard Time (Japan does not follow summer time so the clock is always normal 24/7, 365 days a year compared to other countries in the west and east of Japan) in order to reserve this room….That's complete bonkers and it's probably why only the locals or those living in Japan get to reserve it…Good lord.

  15. I love your channel, it's so relaxing and interesting. Thank you for the videos you make.

  16. Great trip. Something limited and exclusive are always sold out in a blink of eyes, especially this room. Ah yes, I like Japanese Train, but something I didn't like about Japanese Train is their ticketing system, bit complicated and everything goes separately. Overall great train design, great cabin, and great service onboard.
