  1. Almost every hotel review on Agoda says the rooms are not cleaned, very dusty (even a clock is dusty), no housekeeping for days & amenities are at the front desk where guests have to take the items themselves, air-conditioning not working. So don't expect the air-ducts or air-conditioning filters to be cleaned either (since 2019 or perhaps even further back).

  2. I’m in Japan now. Soo many changes since before Covid and I went in 2020. Literally right before Covid πŸ˜‚

  3. I have a relative who works for JR East … now I want to ask him about the price increase. Unfortunately I have to return to Japan in August … I wonder how many people are going to die this season …

  4. What if you have a suica card already and you have money on it? Is there a way to get that left over money?

  5. If someone is planning on visiting next year can they buy the JR pass now at the lowered price for an early next year trip?

  6. I tried booking hotel rooms for my October trip and was surprised at how many room categories were already unavailable. Instead of getting a King bed, I ended up settling for 2 twins.

  7. I work at a hotel in Germany at the moment. I wonder if there's a good way to apply to a Japanese hotel at the moment haha. They might be desperate enough to even employ foreigners.

  8. Hello, I Have my first trip to Japan on November, so I wanted to ask you, if I buy the JR Pass right now ( at the regular price) would I be able to pick it up on November when I'm there and use it normally?

  9. My wife and I are going to Japan on Friday. We were planning on buying a SUICA card when we get there. From what you're saying, we can still get one as long as we put our name on it? Should we each get a SUICA card with our names on them and use them separately when boarding a subway?

First time going and we're trying to figure this out after of time. Thanks for your helpful videos!

  10. My family is visiting Tokyo for the first time next month. My wife booked our hotel weeks ago. I'm really hoping we have a great time. We are scheduled to fly out from the States on August 13th. The only thing I'm a bit nervous about is the weather. I really hope it's not too bad. I can deal with the intense heat, I just don't want the entire trip to be a washout.

  11. i looked at buses, MUCH better deals and flying is not bad given the train tickets are so expensive and depend on the destination, not much time saved.

  12. That level of price increase is pure ass greed. One has to wonder if the government leaned on them to crank it that hard to cover red ink, or a slice to the local areas to cover those debts?.

  13. I’m going to Japan in October 2023 flying from Hawaii I’m staying in Tokyo our hotel is in Shinagawa and we would like to visit Osaka and Kyoto what kind of pass would you suggest we get I’ve watched so many videos and I’m so confused. Your video is the only one that mentioned other passes to travel to other parts of Japan

  14. The JR Pass price hike is disappointing really, because there are so many spots in every major cities that have JR stations. Even in Tokyo.
If they really want to add more benefits, then it better be an option instead of replacing the current one.

    Also turning the JR pass from a booklet into a small standard paper ticket is a one-step forward but two-steps back;
You can lose it more easily, and it lasts for less than a week to be readable in a ticket gate machine. I was in Japan 2 weeks ago & had to find a manned gate every time after 4 days of using it.

My solution to this would be turning the ticket into an IC Card form, where you can also add SUICA credits just like a normal SUICA card & has zero expiration date (for tourist only).
Then should you need to buy the JR Pass again for your next trip to Japan, you can always go to the JR ticket machine & input the exchange code for the JR Pass that you bought before you depart to Japan. Therefore minimizing the demand of chip production, and minimizing the queue to the JR ticket office to exchange your pass.

  15. I make it a point to book my vacation at least half a year before I travel, it's way cheaper that way as well. Plane tickets alone are half price compared to a month before you leave.
The JR Pass changes are unfortunate for a lot of tourists who have shorter stays. With longer stays (for instance a month) and planning to change location every week (Tokyo -> Kyoto -> Hiroshima -> Osaka for example) the JR Pass was already way too pricey to make it work.
When it comes to weather I would just say: If you can avoid it, avoid the japanese summer at all costs. Spring and Autumn are way more comfortable to travel in.

Edit: Also I would like to say to potential tourists to please take other people into consideration when you are on any vacation.

  16. Not a big deal but finding same night hotels in Japan is not an issue at all and prices are reasonable, I just spent 10 days there a few weeks ago.

  17. I'm going on the last 2 weeks of october, do you think the typhoons might still be a problem then? Also, I'm buying the JR Pass in september so I can still pay the lower price.

  18. hey man, Im so greatful for this info this past year, especially since i got to use a lot of it for my first trip to japan last march!

  19. That is quite the price spike for the JR pass. I am so glad that the East South JR Pass is still remaining the same. It was my plan all along to go to japan and go from Tokyo north this November

  20. Your Video's are making me want to come back already!! Who knows I might have to start planning again!! Great video as always.

  21. This was really helpful, I’ll be going in October, booked, paid, just gotta pack! Excited 😊

  22. Thank you so much for this info! Will be going there in September, and your videos are real helpful!
