   We stayed in Cadescove camp ground and it was hard to get in on line. It was 80%empty. So we went and asked a ranger could we get a few more days… He said We are booked up solid … we laughed and it about empty and he said I know and there's nothing he could about it… people i guess are paying and not showing up

   What about the hills and descents? It I horribly narrow and sometimes zero shoulder with zero guardrail over a 500 foot drop. The switch backs are small tight and blind.

   National Parks CGs were designed years ago when people were either tent camping or using small travel trailer. The ATB Senior pass will give you 50% off the campsites. Don't forget Townsend, plenty of CGs there too (and they tend to be cheaper) and not near as touristy.

   Teddy Roosevelt did not have all these charges and stuff in mind when he set aside the land for this. It was a place where American's could get into the woods and explore and now it's only for the people who can afford it and can make plans years ahead.. Such a shame.

   I agree. We used to go there twice a year. It is beautiful. But we won't go there again! There are other places to visit in Tennessee that are less busy, and you can still enjoy the mountains, waterfalls, nature. Without all the crowds and commercial stuff! Elmont is a great place to camp. FYI, you can hear the creek in the non creekside sites. We tent camp, we love Elkmont but won't go back until winter. Too crowded.

   How do you think the park should raise the money to care for itself? The sites were intended for tent campers. I guess you’d like us to just clear cut all the trees to make room for your house to move in? Then you can see the views without leaving the comfort of your air conditioner!

    Have you been able to take that huge fifth wheel over the mountain to Cherokee? We drove it in a car and those switch backs made me wonder if a fifth wheel would make it.

    I don't know about Smoky Mountains. You may use your common sense while you're there. Not everybody does. You talk nickel dime stuff. Do you how work goes into making a webpage? Do you know how many people it takes to staff the park. And of course they have to put up signs. To let you what know what you can and can not do? Then different types of rangers , that have deal with the people who don't follow the rules. The people who keep the park clean. Because some people can't be bothered, to up after themselves. Or the ones who have to rescue you, because you don't want to stay on the path. Or stay away from the wildlife. I glad you told whomever, it may not be a good idea. To take a big rig in there.

    Make sure to check out some of the 'rules' like IF your RV is over 10 years old, you may want to check and see if your RV is too old. Yeah some RV parks are like that!!

    The trouble with this country is we always have money to give other countries that don’t even like us. Instead of spending money on our natural resources and national parks .

    My hubby and I went tent camping in Pigeon Forge with our dog back in 84 or so next to a creek and have stayed at a Chalet once the rest of the times were motels and or hotels

    The absolute best way to visit GSMNP is on YouTube !
    I prefer the real mountains West of Denver and North to Alaska.
    And I know Alaska is Marissa's FAVORITE place of all time. 🚼🚼🤰🤰
