Back in Hong Kong! I try to pack a lot in the first (roughly) 24 hours since I won’t be here for too long.
After a walk and dim sum breakfast in North Point, I check out Tai Kwun (thanks for the suggestion Sara!) which has a really interesting history as a prison. I liked reading about how the prisoners protested not having enough food to eat and eventually resulted in increases to their daily rations. I’ve been to HK a number of times but I didn’t even realize this was here.

We had roast goose from the famous and super popular Yat Lok for lunch. We wanted to dine in, but the wait was over an hour long, so we took a walk to the City Memorial Garden and ate it there. I didn’t notice how there are so little public areas to sit down in Hong Kong, at least in Central, until I needed a place to sit down.

I also visit Mong Kok Flower Market and Fish and Bird Markets in the same area. If you like animals, this is the place to go and see a huge variety of different pets. I remember coming here when I was much younger and seeing all the fish hanging in little bags so it brings back lots of memories. I always wonder how the fish don’t run out of air….
