We are definitely not in Tokyo anymore!
After a month in Japan, we cross hemispheres and head to Ecuador – but not without a short layover in Los Angeles.
Given the lengthy travel time and 10 hours of time zones we had to cross, we decide to lay low for a bit in the cloud forest of Mindo, about three hours outside of Ecuador’s capital city of Quito.
Steve, Marlene and William spend 5 days at an AirBnB in the jungle, surrounded by only birds, bugs and animals. Without a cell signal and without a person in sight, the trio takes in the sights, spot a few monkeys and cast a fishing line.
After recovering from the jet lag, we head back to Quito for the reason we made the journey in the first place – the wedding of our good friends Emi and Nacho. The sabbatical continues in Quito.
